Some cringeworthy questions from this guy ... at 28:00 'he laughs.... then says , 'because you are ... accomplished...' actually mister, she, on the world stage of literature, is highly fucking accomplished !

She and Charlie Rose were the best of friends and incredibly close. While some of his comments come off as insensitive, he knew her well and Ms. Morrison considered him a close confidant. He always said his biggest regret is when she invited him to be one of her guests when she won the Nobel Prize and he declined for another engagement. They used to laugh about that so much because he said it was the dumbest mistake he ever made.

He laughs because the word accomplished doesn’t even come close to describing the monumental talent that Toni Morrison is… he is laughing at how words can be so limiting.

Such an insensitive interviewer. In all the interviews she conceded him he embarrassed me. So many intelligent people who could have done a decent job. I could list several insulting questions in each of these interviews but they’re so distasteful. She deserved more.

I do not detect any insensitivity. Where is it in the interview?

What are you talking about, they had the abundant respect for each other and where great friends.He interviewed her many times because he wanted too,and respected her work.
@beerus1013 жыл бұрын
Respectfully, if you have seen all the interviews of the 2 of them, you mustve seen the ending of the one from 2003, where Charlie is practically speechless and can only say "I adore you". I'm no Charlie apologist but these two had rapport with each other and Charlie certainly had a deep respect for everything about her.

The training is not the problem. Believe me. If I was a police officer without any training whatsoever, I’d do a better job. Why? Because I’m humane. If a police 👮♂️officer helps and protects citizens, they will not be afraid of their lives because the society will protect them. There’s something like personal discretion. A guy drives fast and gets pulled over by a cop, the cop finds out why ? And just shows a bit of understanding. Citizens must not lie to police officers. It’s necessary for citizens to also be able to accept responsibility for their actions. NOT ONLY THE POLICE NEED TO CHANGE BUT CITIZENS AS WELL.

Did your sons death affect your writing? This was a very distasteful question. Of corse it affected HER! So I thought common sense would tell us, that yeah her writing was affected as well, whatever that means. Like is he trying to ask what's the difference in her writing styles pre death and after or what. Don't trivialize the grief process or the creative process. Like all these years of reading her books and interviewing her, and you still cannot comprehend.
