Hey! I recommend checking out the comic "I moved to LA to work in animation". The author talks about how she got into the industry on her own. She did not go to an art school for animation, but she did had experience working in comics. I really recommend it! She has a lot of tips about a lot of practices she did to create a story portfolio.

Well, let me just tell you that I really like all the stuff I found on your Ko-Fi and I think you are a great artist! Your output seems pretty high, and I'm 100% sure that you could make it, if you keep it up! I hope today you already feel better than last week, and if you don't then i'll be here to talk to you :) I got VERY lucky to get accepted to some great european school, but I definitely know your struggle. I am in the same boat. Working on a studio has always been my dream but I am introverted and connections are hard. And even tho I did go to a nice animation school, I am so tired and have no friends or family in the industry to help me get my foot in the door.

Finally now, one can make an animated short without needed a ton of cash or a lifetime of drawing on the 2 for seemingly forever. I do everything, script to concept drawing to 3D modelling. I feel like the guy with a one man band with a drum on his back and cymbal between his legs but it is fun.

do you have animation demos made with opentoonz? I want to see what type of animations you can get out of it when fully used! and if what you teach can actually be done in it! the draw back of your lesson packages is that you should use open source software so that everyone can do it! i feel right about spending money if i can't get the lessons in full! even thought you say you can transfer the files to other programs! that just sounds like extra work.

is it difficult to be accepted if you're not a Calarts Alum? even if your skills are at par with anyone from that school?. I've noticed most ppl at pixar that are Calarts alum didn't have much in their portfolio before entering the studio. Ronnie Del Carmen has worked his ass off since Widget the World watcher before he got accepted in the studio. I wonder how many non-Calarts ppl were accepted in that trainee program
