Its usually a good sign when there are very few 'likes' attributed to a piece of music on this utube phenomenon. Tonto is no exception. I first heard around my mates..Bill n' Giles' pad on Richmond Hill one stoned night in the mid-sereneties (70's). We'd be sat there reading Furry Freak comix and Brian Talbot trilogies like 'Brainstorm'. Mushes hangin' on ceiling drying out. Loved those dudes, they were quality. Happy daze, happier times, gentler times 💖 ✌🙂

It's not the music itself, it's the start of "tonto's" journey. Thanks for sharing this recording. I was searching a while for this.

There’s a very interesting interview with Robert Margouleff (engineer/builder of T.O.N.T.O.) on youtube about an hour and a half long, he’s 83 now sadly Malcom Cecil has passed. Robert is captivating with his knowledge and his stories of building the perfect “machine” besides his recording methods over the early years. Truly a gem that help kick start many variations of music. It’s titled, “Producing Stevie Wonder & the Synth that changed Music Robert Margouleff story. Give it a watch, you won’t be disappointed!!!!

Watch the Wizard Of Oz on mute while simultaneously playing this album. Blows Pink Floyd away.

I have this album in my vinyl collection. To construct a version of The Original New Timbral Orchestra was always an aspiration of my own. Now possible thanks to EuroRack synthesis!

Glad to hear! I highly recommend checking out Ma, Dolce Vita by Baffo Banfi, also on my channel. If you like synth work, this album is madness

@@larrygrigga3374Thanks to my father RIP, I grew up on the same likes, Vangelis, Synergy (Larry Fast), Tomita, Walter (Wendy) Carlos, ELP, Triumvirat, etc. also, including rock, jazz, fusion jazz, classical. My love/addiction for music and high-end audio $$$$ has never stopped, Thanks DAD!!!!!!

@@huskydaddy-y5y right now I am building a large synth system it contains 2 Behringer Model D's , a Behringer neutron , a Pro 1, an BARP 2600, Korg M50, Kurzweil K2000, Korg Triton extreme 88, and a large euro-rack system 18 rack spaces high that is the basis for my kit but there is much much more . I love hearing what others have done its funny but after all these years I can hear the approach to recording and how it is filtered or processed .

A promo copy! You lucky ........ erm, person!!! I am very jealous. I got this album in 1972 I think, not sure, and this greatly influenced my and my wife's musical tastes. A fantastic album, a real ground-breaker and innovator of many future styles of music. They are/were unique. Not many people will know now that the lyrics in Riversong is not a human vox FX-ed but is completely created by and originating from within Tonto! I also got their second album the year it came out.

There are parts of that section where, though it is likely abstract, actual words can be heard, to me sanscrit and english and the microtonal inflections give it a distinctly indian flavoured melodic bent.

If that 'Riversong' is generated without a microphone through a vocoder then it is some spooky chanelling through the aether fields of a brahman priest singing mantras and prayers...

Very corny, the dead -end novelty synthesiser approach, the type of which that gave electronic music a bad name.

to me this sounds futuristic even now... I think the Roger Powell LP "Cosmic Furnace" is also in this vein.

Oh yes, that why Stevie Wonder knocks on their doors after hearing this sounds. A bad name :-)

All due respect what approach or album in any genre is not corny ?
@cefngwyn

@@dfreeman120 'Wish You Were Here' from the album of the same name by Pink Floyd - not corny at all. 'Nimrod' from 'The Enigma Variations' by Edward Elgar - not at all corny. IMHO, your statement is extremely corny.
