@@montethepharaohli1prowrestling yeah, due to the awkwardness particularly in Roddy's part due to being preyed upon sexually by Patterson & Lord Alfred Hayes and others when he was still only likely a teenager in he buisness. There's a segment from the mid 80s where Piper slaps Lord Alfred Hayes during a talk show thing with Vince & u can see that was no worked slap at all! Roddy really played it in. I bet memories of those times were fresh in his mind when he did that. You can see the real tension there between them. Hayes must have felt awkward too knowing Roddy was now a big star & surpassed him now able to kick his ass. Knowing what "ribbing" he'd given Piper as a kid. They always pass off stuff like that as a "rib" when it's not.

Misleading title on this video. Piper said the Shawn came up to him often to learn about how to get over as a main eventer. So, who knows how "close" they got.
