This is supposed to be a North American mining environment. Hard hats, safety glasses, high vis and gloves are a minimum requirement. The tag lines on the suspended loads were way too short for the lifts causing the workers to be too close to the load. I'm not a safety officer and I am generally annoyed when a safety inspector shows up on site but these are bare minimums that are just practical. This mine is a joke, can't be real.
@garygsp311 ай бұрын
Yes because a hard hat would save your head from being squished like a melon. A glove is going to save your finger from anything but a possible minor cut, and safety glasses do nothing but get in the damned way. As for a high vis vest. You're not a deer hiding in the brush. Creating a ~ 12ft x 12ft constantly shifting 50-100ft in any direction box of "safety" ... loads were all around and above me haha.... although i completely agree, walking underloads unnecessarily is best to be avoided, especially if operator doesnt know you are there,

@jamesrawlins73511 ай бұрын
Well - it's a huge exaggeration - the King of the Klondike are actually the huge mining companies. Newmont probably mines the most gold there (overall they produced almost 6 million of gold worldwide in 2020). There is a plan to create 4 open pit mines (The Coffee Gold Mine) about 130 miles south of Dawson City that will employ 400 workers (700 during construction). It is estimated to produce 67 million ton of over over its 10 year lifespan.

You’ve never work with idiots who wilfully ignore the safety regs. Let’s drop the stakes and change the scenario….imagine you’re at home in the kitchen, you tell your partner to put some oven gloves on cos your gonna hand them a hot dish from the oven. They don’t put on oven gloves and take the dish, badly burning themselves. Are you responsible? If you walk under a crane load, you know it’s being lifted, you’ve been told not to walk under it, a chain fails and it nails you, I’ll feel sorry for your family. No one else. 👍
@garygsp311 ай бұрын
@@philcourteney4328 You're not wrong. I'm my career I've lifted hundreds of loads maybe thousands. Everything from a few hundred pounds to 40 ton. It's amazing the number of guys I've yelled at over the years for walking under a load right after I've told them not to. The problem is they don't see the danger. So they don't see why there's a problem. I see nothing more than an electrical/mechanical device that with no warning can work one button push and fail the next. You never know when the failure will happen. So you don't take the risk. You don't walk under the load. We had a bridge crane brake fail with about 15 ton load on it. The load went up the button was released and it came right back down again. It was a big dome filled with steam. It almost bisected the 6 foot high steel electrical control panel in half. Funny thing that accident. No one walked under loads anymore after that. They finally all saw the danger.
