As a fan, I thought it wouldn't be until the end of 23 or midway 24 until we started to see that signature Venables defense. I've had a smile on my face since Saturday to see that he has this team ahead of schedule on defense because we have a lot of great talent coming in. The Fans are happy right now to see real defense back here. OU was always known for defense back in the day. Brent Venables is building our team back to what we all wanted but also a heavy focus on continuing on the offensive success that started in 2000. Its on track reach all the goals we want inside this season. Them men out there made a statement of we ain't a stepping stone, we came to win. I love it.

Intensity can overcome a slim talent gap. OU wanted it just a bit more.

That, and they were just more talented especially on the defensive line. And come to think of it are you with more talent on the offensive line. Or secondary was better is better. OU quarterback is better. Receivers at OU are better. I'm sorry where was Texas is more talented people at. Okay I'll give you a special teams

OU won the game because they played better. Plain and simple. They really should’ve won the game by more, tbh.

Say what you will but OU either led or was tied with Texas for the majority of the game. That’s domination.

Lol. Domination is winning by double digits. Considering all Texas mistakes, they were able to take the lead. OU won. But not by domination.

530 yards by Texas is not dominance by Oklahoma but it's a good win be realistic .

True, but OU easily left 10 points on the field, self inflicted, but yeah, winning by 4 isn't domination.

@williebates3398 8 ай бұрын
@@mikenotta7079 so did Texas,it amazes me how this game only had Texas by 6.5 points and the country thinks this was a huge upset?yes Oklahoma won fair and square but they are not that much better than Texas? Take away Ewers two bonehead throws and his fumble totaling 3 turnovers will get you beat Everytime. Texas never punted? Over 530 yards of offense? They play ten times I guarantee you they both would be 5-5. What I saw in this game is Oklahoma had a bad taste from last year and had more heart into this particular game? Hopefully they play again in December?

The Offense officially arrived when Anderson caught that TD. The Defense arrived when Bowman stopped Worthy on 4th and goal.

Texas offense had 500+ yards , I didn't see much tbh
@Tom_Van_Zandt
@Tom_Van_Zandt 8 ай бұрын
@@HEC892 Yep, they racked up more than 500 yards against OU's defense, but when they needed just 1 yard to score a TD they couldn't do it; and they had 4 downs to get that 1 yard. 500+ yards or not, they couldn't get the 1 yard that really mattered.
@hines57a52
@hines57a52 8 ай бұрын
@@HEC892 it's funny that you don't see the irony in that. Nobody said Texas is offense was trash. And Oklahoma's defense is very good five sacks two interceptions a fumble 10 tackles for loss of goal-line stands at the one. But the thing is is no matter how good your offense is if you can't finish in the Red zone you can't win and you couldn't finish in the Red zone because Oklahoma has one of the best Red zone defenses in college football. And Brooks is a solid excellent running back he's going to break off yards on everybody he runs against because he's that good unfortunately he was only able to get in the endzone once which is Oklahoma's first time to give one up against probably the best competition in college football right now. The offense still only scored 23. If not for a missed field goal, and a drop pass this game's not even close. Good luck in the Big 12 because Oklahoma has steadily improved. Well I'm fairly certain Texas is right about as good as they're going to get.

A lot of that came in the 2nd half,...secondary began playing more zone,..and Ewers was getting yardage and Texas was running the ball easily, but that was due to some dings on our defense,...I'm sure coach BV didn't want to put his freshman in man and set them up for failure, just try and keep the ball in front of us if possible,...a bend but don't break situation

I HAVE SCREAMED SINCE MCCOY (QB) CARVED UP OUR DEFENSE ( OU) MANY YEARS AGO, THAT IN COLLEGE YOU HAVE TO HAVE A QB THAT CAN USE HIS LEGGS TO KEEP THE DEFENSE ON THEIR HEALS. QB's HAVE TO BE ABLE TO ESCAPE AND GO DOWN FIELD AND MAKE DEFENSES PAY. IF YOU HAVE A STATUE THAT GIVES THE DEFENSIVE SECONDARY AND EXTRA MAN AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, NO WORRY OR INSECURITIES

I agree, we have given up more yards than I would prefer between the 20's, but we have pretty much owned the red zone...our guys are so much better getting the opponent's offense of the field and simply making the tackles they should make, im very impressed, and look forward to watching them continue to improve, BOOMER SOONER

I couldn’t believe they hired Riley to be head coach, I thought Vendables was a better coach. I’m a little bias because I played line defense and offense. He should have listened to Mike Ditka, defense wins games if your opponent can’t score they can’t win.

Suffocating defense? Pretty sure Texas had a 3rs string center, hurt left tackle and a right guard that was in start number 3. They had a 100+ yards rusher and almost 400 yards passing. And they did all that in 3 quarters lol

Suffocating defense when the Texas offense had close to 600+ yards??? When Quinn finished the game 26/28 passes completed through 6 drives??? More like he threw one bad pass that resulted in an interception the other was just weird popped in the air when it hit the WR in both hands. Texas just made mistakes in the red zone it’s that simple, Texas lost the game OUs defense didn’t suffocate anything? lol.
