I don’t know why Tony wasn’t promoted and payed properly over the past three years. He got injured while being the interim champ, the match with Khabib got cancelled several times and Tony is kind of crazy and difficult to deal with. But still he could have been a big deal for the UFC, he had huge star potential, like a Masvidal: having fought so much and spectacularly. Now he seems very much on his way out. This is a very bad match up for him. His only weapon is cardio and craze. In all other ways Charles ought to win. Another major gamble: if Tony loses it’s his definite exit from the top 4 forever. If he wins he remains a contender. It just seems like a match up to eliminate Tony from the top. It might be a great fight, an elite fight, but it might be Tony’s last noticeable fight. Unless he remains motivated like a Overeem but that rarely ever happens.
@isakdahl78753 жыл бұрын
Overeem is a heavyweight, age is much less of a factor at the higher weightclasses. Tony is ancient for a lightweight
@tiesthijsthejs3 жыл бұрын
Isak Dahl well Overeem is becoming quite ancient as well. But you’re right about Tony’s age. And since the damage he took against Justin, it looks like Father Time is catching up with him. So you’re saying the ufc is basically doing this matchup as a changing of guards and a farewell? I guess I’m sort of ruminating about how the past three years had so much more potential for Tony. And marketability. Only two years ago he still seemed lethal and untouchable.

@optimusbee2143 жыл бұрын
Things that went against Tony when he fought Gaethje - 2nd weight cut, plus not a good enough plan in the 4-6 weeks the fight was announced. Age is only a factor for someone who fights 3/4/5 times per year every year (Cerrone). Fight miles fatigue a person, not just age alone. Tony had enough time between his fights in recent years to recover and heal from injuries without looking any slower or different from his previous fight.

I've seen tony submission attack, but I've never seen his submission defense.. Charles Oliviera might show me how good tony defense ground game.. I bet money this match is gonna be ground battle..

Could be very similar to the Ferguson vs. Barboza fight

Chase Hooper vs Peter Barrett is the first fight on the prelims... Slippery Pete always brings it, anybody else surprised by the recent matchmaking for Hooper? The kid should be fighting lower-mid level regional guys, too many losses like his last one is going to wreck that Young mans confidence.. Was his downfall beating Teymur, and being rushed?
