Mark is making a name for himself in swing analysis. Nice work. As for Tony’s swing - it’s a thing of beauty and you better do a lot of Pilates if you want to emulate it. Imo it is very similar to Leadbetter’s A-Swing model - beautifully synched up.

I'm a taller golfer and tend to "sit" more in my setup like Tony. When I tried some adjustments to stand up straighter, my weight tends to be too much on my toes over the ball and would not get consistent strikes. Wondering if I need more lie/length adjustments with my irons. Thanks for the analysis!

I’m 6’5” and feel pretty uncomfortable swinging. Gonna have to try and shorten it up like Tony and see if it works better for me.
@Mtnbike1216 ай бұрын
It really isnt a short swing, Tony just uses a ton of hip turn and shoulder turn. Rotating more generates power and club speed basically for free.

I don't know about "quiet feet" - Tony was pressing off the ground with his legs hard, you could see his feet moving. You don't get ball speed like him if you don't.

@@johnhofer3089 Sorry about my original comment btw im in a horrid mood and i took it out on you 😂 I know quiet as my own feet barely move, the most my feet move is during putting because i tap my toes when i putt to keep my mind focused on the putt, other than that i’m shoulders going back and hips forward, feet dont need to do much

What software do they use that illustrates the club path?

The big miss in this analysis is, how many great hitters of the ball, EXTEND their hips (pelvis) towards the target. This is what gives them that extra shaft lag and clubhead speed. Reminds of Annika Sorenstam and how she does it with her of own unique style, but the point is, extending the pelvis at the right moment adds distance fast. Most amateurs extend the pelvis at the ball, but here we see Tony just gets the move started at the ball, but finishes thrusting them at the target. Big difference!

Any thoughts on how Finau’s resistance of the lower body in the back swing could lead to back problems? I love his swing but feel that it is best to not copy it for regular players who don’t possess elite level athleticism.
@nicholasdonin1465 Жыл бұрын
As someone who lifts and competes at it, golf is active, therapeutic rest. I doubt anything about his swing will lead to back problems. The only thing a golf swing could effect it late age shape and mobility, but not cuz of the movement itself, but from he quantity of a singular movement.
@bobt5778 Жыл бұрын
3:06 Look at those feet - a lot of folks will use the ground... Like Finau doesn't? Every golfer pushes up off the ground or should that's why we have spikes on our shoes!

2:08 what's wrong with some wrist hinge? John Daly had no problem winning with it.
@sirwojenheimthethird2268 Жыл бұрын
There’s no ‘excess’ wrist hinge but there’s plenty of hinge still. The reason Daily had so much more is because he was WAY past parallel while Finau is as short of parallel as you could reasonably find on Tour.

@@sirwojenheimthethird2268 Daly also has more body rotation than Tony.. I'm not saying Tony's swing is bad. I just prefer Daly's type. That's why golf is so cool. Many different ways to swing

Mark, in your vids you keep calling a bowed left wrist "extended". It's not, it's called flexion. If you are going to use anatomical terms is best to use the right ones to avoid confusion.

Same. I feel like I get better torque than trying to rotate all the way back. In my mind it feels like a half swing/ punch shot.
