Never fails Hancock versus the piano player. "Turn it up mate!"

Love listening to all these again, I remember watching him on TV with my dad when I was very young , pity they wouldn't re-run the TV series again but it wouldn't be PC enough for some with no humour

What a pity the BBC destroyed some of the original T.V. recordings. I do have the remaining episodes and have been a lifetime fan. I am now (in January 2021) 84 and obeying the "lock down" rules regarding covid. Regards.

"...In the famous scene where she overturned the boat..." Makes me laugh every time! Poor Hattie, but it's so very funny. Hancock's delivery of that line is perfection.

Hilarious. Too bad drama teachers won't give the kids the chance to listen to this. What brilliant acting.

Note that at 9:36 there is a skip in the recording. A couple of seconds missing. There is a gunshot and Hattie say's 'Well you are NOW..' This glitch is present on the official BBC compact cassette issue but is absent (fortunately) from the original vinyl issue.

I stumbled across this performance by pure chance. A friend of my mother's by the name of Jean Hands was moving house and turfed out a dozen 12" records. At the age of 10 or thereabouts, they were deemed throwing weaponry or improvised frisbees, but i (or WE, if you include my sisters) deemed it appropriate to play them before condemning them. I'm glas we did, 'cos two of them were Hancock. Never in the field of entertainment did radio kick television into touch quite so comprehensively. Outstanding. Humour that is already decades out of date has to be very good to make a 10yr old laugh.

Excellent. Somewhere along the journey to us this has been run at 28 or 29 rpm at some point- kenneth williams sounds like he is on mogadon! Common problem with old vinyl. (And with audio cassettes sometimes)
