Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica) On Giving The Fans What They Asked For

I just found out that I‘m the same age as Tony 😂. So happy for him that he could get rid of the issues with his voice- in my opinion he is a fantastic storyteller, a magician in music and words. I met the band on the 26th of March 2019 at the club Z7 in Pratteln, Switzerland at a Meet&Greet. These guys are all so kind and nice people!

I love all the singles from the new album and am so excited to hear the album. Sonata and Tony introduced me to metal in 2003 when I heard Victoria’s Secret played on a highlight reel of Hockey Night in Finland. I was hooked ever since and started on my metal journey that is still ongoing.

I caught Sonata Arctica in Detroit at the I-Rock in 2005, and they were fantastic! I remember Tony pointing down at the ground while singing about taking the low road (from Blinded No More) and smiling the whole time. So fun! I bought Reckoning Night the next day, one of my favorite albums.

I'm so excited about this release! Sonata Arctica's been my favorite band since I was a teenager and it's awesome every time they release new music. I have been lucky to watch them live 3 times, once in Caracas, and two in Madrid! The band always delivers amazing shows! I agree that Sonata is so much more than power metal, which is what makes it fun after all of these years listening to the band. It never gets boring :) Great interview, I'm hyped!

I think people started to criticize their music since Unia.. the last one was not my cup of tea.. It was a great conversation.. their music started to play in my head and I just got nostalgic and feeling a huge need to listen to some power metal.
