@@mozearteffect10 correct but tony built off of Clarences style and put his own style with that there was only one Clarence and there was only one Tony both great guitarists but Tony had a way with dynamics that no other guitarist had it was something special that he had. When you say "built off of Clarence's style", Clarence's style was heavy syncopation, which Tony avoided.

As a guitar player I appreciate the artistry in Tony's and the rest of the bands playing of this tricky song and melodic rhythms, but as a singer - well then, I'm blown away by Tony's range, lyrical expression, and blues-style in this song. He was a master and will always be with us as long as we pick up an acoustic guitar and flat pick! :'-(

Tony was absolutely off the chain musically and vocally speaking!! He was playing like he was gonna show that old Martin that he could do whatever he wanted to do up and down the neck of that great antique!! What a great performance by all!

True. Except, judging from the tortoiseshell pickguard, this is Tony’s Santa Cruz, not a Martin :)

I don’t think so based on the absence of the Santa Cruz “SC” neck inlay.

Also if you’ll compare the pattern on the pick guard, it’s the antique.

It was 58957. He was royally pst that he had no choice other than fly it and the S.C as well, across country. He hated to fly anyway, but especially if he had the added anxiety of worrying over how the baggage handlers would treat 58957 once out of his sight. He had seen baggage fall off on the tarmark too many times and the driver not even notice. He would give the check luggage curbside guy a large tip and ask that he saw to it his guitar was handled with the utmost of care. Both guitars were only flown with their Viking cases.

Me and My Guitar is the ultimate study in T licks. TR will live on in the The Antique, his records...but most of all in the lessons he passed down to the flatpickers who have followed.

Yes he was. He had his burner on and had the faucet on to fill his water kettle. That's when he was snatched out of his earthly body. The Lord said,., I've already brewed our coffee son. Your having this cup with me. Tony was always praying. He always held my hand or India's and he always prayed outloud. But he always had a special prayer time as well, where he called all his puppies to come pray with him. They would run like crazy to him when he called.. ok puppies, time say prayers. They would sit around him still as little statues until he said Amen. Then they would run and play tag on the top staircase, like they had earned some wild time from God.

You know? No cause of death mentioned for Mr. Rice. He had a condition similar to tennis elbow, terrible arthritis in both hands, and his voice failed him years ago. This was his life, his love! Maybe a broken heart caught up with him as mine began to break when I heard of his passing! RIP TONY!
