The best part of John Madden is that he was never one to play favorites when he was in the booth. I learned about John back in Cartoon Network when they did the Big Game Shows, and he had the same energy then as he did in the booth. He was by far the best analysis in the NFL, and he will be greatly missed.

Romo is an amazing sports analyst. The game needed that so bad. As a kid I remember watching football learning so much just from John Maddens commentary. Yes the real John Madden from the video game franchise was actually a commentator after coaching. He was so good at it that it spawned an entire video game franchise featuring HIS commentary. Well....when he stopped...football kinda missed that special commentary. That insight... But Tony Romo has it. He's got that gift. He called so many plays in that KC/PATS game accurately. The mindset walkthrough of the presnap. The options. And most impressively, the blocking schemes and chips the tight ends and runningbacks were doing. He called what was available in the offense. It was literally the perfect commentary for somebody new to the game and something that fans of old could really enjoy. I really hope he does the Superbowl. I Might actually watch more of the games instead of catching highlights and cherry picking my games. Sports commentary is a dying art.

Darth Vader You might wanna check the requirments for Hall Of Fame. Its basically based on votes and INDIVIDUAL performance. Playoff wins and Titles are actually team efforts. Tony had a stellar career breaking almost every Cowboys passing record imaginable! Individually his stats have surpassed that of Staubach and Aikman. Those 2 have won titles with the Cowboys but only becuz they played on better teams and were surrounded by better talent. Tony unfortunately never was surrounded by top quality talent except T. Owens and Demarcus Ware and they just werent enough to get them to Victory. But as an individual Player with 3 probowl appearances Tony is indeed headed to the Hall!

The Life Analyst Championships are not won by QBs. Besides Superbowl Titles what do 71, 77, 92, 93 & 95 Cowboys all have in common? They all had high ranked defenses. If you know anything at all about team sports... know this. "The first order of business is always defense."

I've always thought Bill Parcells fucked up here. 4th and Inches with 1:19 left in the game and Seattle had no timeouts. He should have run a quarterback sneak to get the first down. If they get the First down then they can run the clock out and kick a walkoff field goal. Even if the Cowboys had made the field goal Seattle had a ton of time to get another 3 points to win the game.

Madden calling this game and present day Tony Romo is calling games on CBS. Time flies. I'm a Redskins fan so I've always hated Romo and I remember watching this live when it happened feeling like I got a late Christmas present. Looking back at it, Romo was a class act, came from nothing and became one of the better QBs in the NFL during his tenure so now watching this back, I feel for Romo since this sort of stuck with him throughout his career as being a choke artist. His career should reflect how good of a QB he was and I hope in time people will appreciate how good of a player he was rather than let a moment like in this game define his legacy. Something tells me though that as good of a QB as he was, he'll be more remembered for his color commentary and I think we'll see him in the HoF just from his commentary alone. The guy is the best color commentator in the NFL by far right now.

All of it happened so fast, one of those wtf moments. People talk about the botched snap, but I saw Romo doing what he did best, trying to pull another miracle out of his ass to save the play and win the game. He got pretty damn close to pulling it off.

I almost forgot that Parcells was coach of Dallas. Romo is such a likeable guy, so felt bad for him in this moment. He's a great commentator these days though and his knowledge of the game and insights are spot on.

Reminds me of the 2015 Vikings hawks wildcard a little. Hawks being defending NFC champs and romo drops the snap on the goal line for the game winner and Blair Walsh in ‘15 misses the game winning chip shot close to the goal line and hawks win on a bizarre ass finish lmao. I’m a Vikings fan btw so I’m always sad

Hard to believe that both men that played in the 2006 NFC Wild Card game (Nate Burleson of the Seahawks and Tony Romo of the Cowboys) are now with CBS.

People forget all the little moments surrounding the kick. The Tatupu tackle, the Babineaux tacke, the Alexander run to avoid the possible safety and get the first down. The botched punt. The hail mary. There were many ways the 'Hawks could have lost this outside the kick, and had time to win it even if the kick was made.

I just wanna know why you have your starting QB holding the snap for the kick? Was the holder injured? Was it just a thing they did?🤔🤔🤔

Everyone seems to overlook two things here, one after the game and season, the NFL changed the handling of the footballs and allowed teams to prep the footballs that teams would use for FG kicks. Before that change, the footballs would literally just come out of the box, therefore making them slicker. The second thing is, had the FG kicker Grammatica? been for assertive in trying to either block or get in the way of the Babbitt? then most likely it's a first down or possibly a TD. It was a great play by Seattle and the rest is history. This game more than anything led to T. Romo being falsely labeled as a "choker", but he was anything but that in my opinion.

I've lived in WA state my whole life and have been a huge Seahawks fan. Still feel terrible for Romo when I watch this. Glad we won, but never like winning that way. He had a great career and was a fabulous QB. Should not be judged by one fluke mistake...
