I'm being far from ignorant and foolish. I've been drumming for nearly 15 years and I appreciate just how much dedication, passion, persistence and patience it takes to get to such a level. I've been there myself. Tony is far more than a fantastic drummer. You can see his years of experience and love in his style of playing. I idolize the guy. What I would give to be at his level. I'm just merely pointing out the numbness of a far from intellectual crowd. :-)

Ok, the first minute show why this guy is an amazing drummer, such a simple beat and he can make it groove like a nobodies business!
@paul7albert16 жыл бұрын
excellent! knows how to set the audience into the groove. His beats are like organized thoughts, that brings the taps of the snares and toms, and the dings of the cymbals into a "GROOVE" two thumbs up! :D

awsome...I like how its starts out kind of basic and simple...gets the crowd to clap along. Something they can groove too. Then...he builds it up while still getting the crowd involved. Cant remember seeing many crowds to that to a drum solo.

Hands down Tony at his age is the best at what he does. Not to down play any other drummers but the kid plays straight from his soul and his influences are the fore fathers. Peep his resume and then judge him. He is well educated, has great technique and good showmanship. Most cats look at showmanship as showing off. Hell if you could do what this kid does you would pull the rabbit out the hat and let the world know that you are the shit. Two words describe the kid. Tasteful. Professional.

@Investrite1 He played a solo that involves the crowd. And he's way good. It was a GREAT solo. Non musicians, especially non drummers, won't be able to comprehend fast chops and quads, and crazy beats. So for its environment it was a great solo. Glad I could enlighten you ;).

Imaginative, faster than many, neat, clean, precise...Tony Royster was a prodigal freak right out of the box. Watch the solo he did when he was about 12 behind a red Pearl kit, considering his age, it was nothing less than amazing! He was creating patterns that 30 year drummers couldn't match! Having Tony Williams as teacher was a big plus, but the talent was there from the start.
@TheWillofWilliam17 жыл бұрын

@GearHeadz10116 жыл бұрын
definately! it's a really original drumsolo for a guy like Tony who could rip any drummers face off at any time..but he doesn't!...at first which draws attention from drummers who know what he's capable off! Thomas Lang e.g would never ever do a drumsolo like this! He plays with himself! and these kind of drumsolos, where the drummer incorporated the audience is a real treat and entertaining for non-drummers aswell!

sucks that the video wasn't with the audio, and I really don't want to see crowd shots, but this guy is a freak of nature (plus quite a bit of hard work, I'm sure), and I'm just lucky that I get to enjoy what I get, I guess :)
@gazconnor15 жыл бұрын
for all the people who think this is extremely simple,go and try play it,i have ,its not so easy,i think drummers with 20 years experience would struggle with certainly the last part and some of the middle section.its absolutely effortless for tony,for most of us reaching near this level would be amazing

I agree, the first video of him (at 8 y.o. I think?) I think it really rocks, the later videos I've seen when he's older don't really do it to me, not enough beat, to much screwing around being all jazzy. Now he's going back to basics and it kicks ass! Way to go Tony!!!
