There was no reason for pussy to be stressed out over his back, he knows his friends will look out for him if he's injured. Him being so wound up about it was suspicious that there was something else going on that he wasn't being forthcoming about.
@briankeithmason57923 жыл бұрын
I think the clarity in your analysis is influenced by your knowledge of the eventual outcome. A bird’s eye view of the situation yields credible angles on why he was overwhelmed with so much anxiety: 1. Back injuries are scary (I’ve had one). They often emerge out of nowhere and are immediately in command of your entire life. The psychological impact of such suddenness is that you don’t feel it’s a fixable condition. 2. Pussy’s a foot soldier in an industry that’s all about machismo… If his life as an enforcer/pseudo-enforcer to a mob titan ceased to exist…”What would his identity become?” (many regular Joe’s are suicidal under these conditions). 3.Painkillers. Look around our current situation/multiple issues there! 3. And then we come to the subtle fear the writer brilliantly alludes to - his wife. We later learn that Angie’s a pistol! Imagine suddenly losing your entire identity and having a wife like that tearing into you? Think about it this way….if they weren’t committed to taking Pussy’s character out they could have taken some pretty deep story angles without turning him into an informant.

Eh, that whole "Mafia insurance" concept where they look after you and your family if you're sick or in prison is largely a myth. I think that may be a subtle reference to what pussy owes tony and the crew as a made guy rather than tony being willing to die for pussy. I dont know why Tony kept him around after this scene, I know Jimmy Altieri was probably a rat also because Junior Soprano confirmed he was snitching after a sit down. Tony just wanted to refuse to believe Sal was a snitch
@kennybeans61153 жыл бұрын
For some reason, many people get it wrong about Jimmy being a rat. The whole “rat mixup” storyline and the show giving Tony and Junior false-positives was precisely the point. They were supposed to wrongfully suspect Jimmy instead of Puss. We the audience were one step ahead of the characters by knowing the whole story (I.e., Puss’ “extracurricular activities”). Here’s the key piece of evidence that almost certainly proves Jimmy wasn’t a rat: Agent “Lisp”-pari reminds Puss that he’s lucky Jimmy was suspected as the rat and that Jimmy’s bullet had his name on it in order to make him focus and take seriously his cooperation in helping them make a case against Tony. If Jimmy was a friendly, the feds would’ve likely informed Puss (and the audience) of it as it would’ve been encouraging, beneficial and even assuring to Puss that he wasn’t alone. They never did. Everyone in the show that flipped was shown cooperating with the feds. We were never shown Jimmy snitching. Jimmy very likely was *not* a rat. Now, on the other hand Larry Boy was never seen cooperating, but I suspect he was as it was all too close for comfort. He was on house arrest, but conveniently was always a free man and constantly “feeding the feds crap.” Imo, Larry was given way too much leeway and trust by the crew. But at the end of the day, it’s only speculation.
@myrixica42223 жыл бұрын

@@kennybeans6115 Your key piece of evidence is that the cops didn't tell a co-operating witness that the victim of a murder was also a co-operating witness?
@kennybeans61152 жыл бұрын
@@myrixica4222 That’s a good and fair point. I didn’t consider that. Edit: But also, why would they purposefully try to scare Puss by reminding him that death is a possibility even just for suspicion? Wouldn’t they try to console or assure Puss by lying and pretending that flipping had nothing to do with Jimmy’s death? Also, why is it that the audience was shown every single character in the Sopranos crew talking to the feds… *except* Jimmy, the sole character in the show whose main storyline just so happened to be about being wrongfully suspected of being the rat of the crew at that particular time in the show? Isn’t that too much coincidence, or at least too much evidence proving his possible innocence?
@kennybeans61152 жыл бұрын
@@joachimwalle3760 More so the fact that everyone that “started a broadcast” was deliberately shown doing so…..except Jimmy. Hmmm…..And “coincidentally”, Jimmy’s death was to assist the “mistaken rat” storyline. That’s a pretty obvious, if not solid case if I may say so myself. I doubt Puss or the Feds were unaware of the dangers involved with their partnership. Also, they even used Jimmy’s death and being mistaken for the rat to further motivate Puss into further cooperating and taking it more seriously. They had little to no reason not to admit the “true actions” of the recently-whacked Jimmy at that point. If they wanted to reassure Puss, wouldn’t they have told him Jimmy’s death was for skimping, mishandling dues, colluding with NY, etc., and not because they just assumed he was a rat? Wouldn’t that scare Puss even more, which it did? Again, why would they do all that, but not say Jimmy was on their side and give Puss even more justification or motivation like redeeming and vindicating his death?

Whenever a mob guy tell you that you you have friends that would die or do anything for you those are really your options... because they don’t want you to rat; then make you feel comfortable enough to make you say a fed offered me witness protection if I wanna flip... just so they can debate about wacking you... in other words you’re fucked either way.

TO any young men, keep in mind this scene and the part about him saying he has options. he has friends. Friends that would die for him. when someone says something like that you pay attention to what comes immediately after. That is how men tell you without telling you, that they can forgive you. If you don't come clean right then and there, they won't. brilliant writing
@philwill01232 жыл бұрын
Difference is this is organised crime. And going to feds isn't forgiven. In real life this works, in organised crime and criminals.... absolutely no.

There is no honour among thieves and that is what they are plain and simple. A perverse 'robin hood' fantasy and nothing more. You can dress it up in fancy Italian suits, throw in a shiny, unspoken code of ethics and all the fuckin meatballs you want, but a spade is a spade. If it quacks like a duck and all.

In August before the show premiered in January, they filmed a scene across the street from the school I worked in. School was closed for summer. They used are cafeteria that day as a headquarters. During lunch (prime Rib) I kept asking HBO crew what that guys name is (JG). They all said they didn’t know. Finally after asking 6 different people a women tells me his name. I had recognized him from movie “True Romance”.

1:38. Just a hypothetical. I wonder what Tony's reaction would be if Pussy had said he was wearing a wire and he had no choice. Granted he probably wasn't wearing one then. Would Tony have grabbed him by the throat right there or would he have actually looked to help him?
@redetrigan6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this scene always makes me wonder if Tony would have spared Pussy had he come clean. (That certainly didn't save Adriana, of course.)
@AdamSmith-lb5cn6 жыл бұрын
Well.. Adriana was looking at what.. 5 years? She was not smart to begin with and was the prototypical wife/girlfriend that would and almost did bring Tony down. Adrianna was attractive but really meant nothing to Tony. In reality Chris would have been killed 12 out of 10 times with Adrianna but Tony loved Chris and knew he would never roll. If Pussy would have told Tony what happened right off the bat.. as soon as he was released and agreed to where i wire.. gave Tony the wire and said "i will never do that.. i just want you to know" Tony may have took it upon himself to do something to help him. Send him off somewhere maybe.. whatever. But then again.. any mob family would be ostracized and the contracts put on that family for helping harbor somebody who agreed to "flip" would be catastrophic. Tony's dilemma here is that the guys closest to him in his criminal life are guys that have been with him since he was a kid. That insulated him with loyalty but he was stuck between a rock and hard place here.. even for a mob boss i'd assume.

Absolutely not. No chance. Zero. Nada. And honestly as cold as this sounds he shouldn't. If you are involved in "This Thing Of Ours" and cooperate with the federales, you gotta go.I know it's cliche, but if you can't do the time don't do the crime. Even as a kid my mom who never hurt anyone's feelings, let alone commited a crime told me no one likes a stool pigeon. You don't rat, and wearing a wire to continue to set up your friends is despicable, and you get what you got coming...

Chris Pap I agree with Tic tack and You may as well be a rat because coming on here and talking candidly like that would be a violation of OMERTA... but seeing you are just some kid i'm sure you will be fine. But don't do what you just did.. it doesn't make you look cool and nobody is going to believe you are even an associate regardless of who your Uncle or Cousin or Grandfather is/was. You sound like a pretentious douche with all due respect. Good luck.
