@@TonyAlbus can I hook up a signal generator to a frequency counter to test the signal generator for accuracy? And viceversa? Thank you

@@SDsailor7 Yes you can, but one need to be calibrated and you need to know which of the two.

@@TonyAlbus So if i was to hook up a frequency counter to a stereo or a reel to reel on the output of the machines what would i be checking and what would be the benefit? have a frequency counter and a signal generator. I know that you use the signal generator to find faults in the circuits but i don't know the use of the frequency counter. I also know that you can hook them up to an Oscilloscope but i haven't learned the purpose of doing that, Thank you

WOW you have 5 counters. I have one from the stone age i haven't used well since the stone age. Just not something i use anymore. Its easily been a decade since i used it. I use my DSO for measuring frequency and for what i do thats good enough. Have you ever tried using an SA with a really small RBW like 100 or even 10Hz for measuring. If you have an H field probe no actual connection or termination needed. Thx for sharing.

Thanks for yet another useful, educational video! I bought an FY6900 based on your review, and (along with your review video) this helps me to understand how the frequency counter works.

Excellent video!!! Your simplification is perfect, for us non RF guys with no knowledge!!! Gate time now makes sense to me, after this video. I’ve had function generator based counters for some time, never understood any of this. Still don’t have a use for this, but I would like to at some point. What are some other uses for this accuracy? Baring RF application and possibly GPS with it’s time accuracy requirements. I understand a counter can be used for time accurate circuits? Still waiting your newer video on your GPS discipline counter. I normally don’t post on your videos until I understand it.

So, how would you check the frequency of a piece of fabric 👕 or say for example the frequency of a plant 🪴 or a plant’s leaf 🍃???? Is this possible, Is it difficult to, is it a myth or an actual real thing? I cant find proof that this was ever done or even possible.

I used to have both an earlier generation and the model shown of the Aim-TTI counter. Both were lovely instruments, but let down a bit by the display I think - especially given their price.

Agree Greg, the TTi is a great counter, its super stable and great for mobile use, but i sold it also because of the strange form factor and display.

Hello. Master can help me with advice on what is best for me to buy. I need to measure and adjust the frequency in a vinyl player. So that I can see 270.04 khz on the display. What would be better: a multimeter with a frequency counter, say ut61e (+), or a separate device: victor vc3165 or FY6900 or PFM3000 aimtti. Thank you.

you prob need a counter with external ref input and gpsdo if you want that precision

@@TonyAlbus Hello again. I bought a u-ti u61e multimeter and was disappointed. According to the characteristics, it should display 270.04 khz, there is even a range button. But this doesn't happen. Do you think FY6900 with counter function can do this? We need help, we really need to resolve this issue. Someone told me that it depends on the signal level that is being measured.

@@kentlord2490 This is not my field, and i do not know what you are measuring where. maybe a ocilloscope is more helpful for low signals, but again not my field record players.

Great video. Does this act as a dummy load as well?
@TonyAlbus
@TonyAlbus 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, its not also a dummy load, it will break the Counter if you directly connect a transmitter... better to allways use an RF-tap. or an antenne

The 2 different BNC inputs on my Phillips PM6674 can be confusing i assume the 1megohm is the same as an oscilloscope input and you can attatch a scope probe ?.
@TonyAlbus
@TonyAlbus 6 ай бұрын
Yes the high impedance is for lower frequencies and you can use a probe.. so you have less influance on the circuit you are measuring. for higher frequencies you need to be careful for reflections, then a lower impedance is better.

Hello Francesco, this is one solution, but it is not cheap, its a PLL conversion board that runs on external, i used it for 25MHz ref. to connect to 10MHz GPSDO: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGWrhGtunKh2bqs and i build it later in a case: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6DGl6iwbteohLc The link to the product are in the description of the video.
