Here's An Uncle Tony's Quick Tutorial of how to play Keith Emerson’s moog solo from “From the Beginning” by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, written by Greg Lake. This one is a bit advanced, but you can do it! This video is also part of a much longer one that includes the acoustic introduction, acoustic rhythm guitar, fast acoustic riff, a section on how to learn fast passages, and how to play both the lead guitar and moog solos. I’ll link to that longer video at the end of this one. Remember: you should strive to have almost no tension in your wrists and hands when you are playing, keeping the rhythm is more important than playing the "right" notes, and down / up picking is the key to the universe! Thanks a lot for your work of search about this magic mood solo played with the guitare... I ve begin to play guitar into the 80's and I ve made a break in 2009... I ve begin again end of 2022, and I forgot lot of things and sing not very much, it comes again very fast... In the past, I m totally autodidact, I ve learn new songs when I met other guitarists on the road played a song I love and was ok to show me the way they played... even sometimes they doesn't show the chords to me, because for example they come out great expensive school of music and they took me like a junk😂 It was hard times but also cool times... And I learn many classics from the 60's and 70's by this way... Internet has changed everything! I learn many songs, like this one, which I never except to learn in the past!! This solo is one of the greatest magic solo of the seventies, thanks again!! I m living in the french part of Switzerland, so forgive my weird English😉

Glad you like my tutorial(s). My guitar is a hand made D’Agostino. It was made by Pat D’Agostino in 1978/9. He had just left the Gibson Custom Shop and went out on his own. Legend has it that he made 5 of them: one for me, one for Ace Frehley, one for Peter Frampton, and two are unknown. (The ones he made by hand have no serial numbers.) It’s basically a double cutaway Les Paul made from one solid piece of wood. It’s heavy as hell, like wearing a Prius around your neck, and not a very good choice for the spinal cord of a dude my age, though it sounds & plays amazing and will sustain until I ask it to stop. He quickly sold the company to an Italian maker who made a few that were meh at best, and then they in turn sold it to a Korean maker who made absolute garbage, before they folded. Those are the ones you can sometimes find around. : )
