I love the Rutles. The movie is absolutely hilarious and the album is a great listen once you have run out of Beatles music to listen to

There are actually two Rutles movies: 1) All You Need Is Cash, and 2) Can't Buy Me Lunch.

Uncle Tony, i'm not much of a musician but i really want to learn this song, and i dont understand: if your low E is tuned down to D, how can you play along with the 'normally' tuned instruments? do you mute the low E for the bits where you're not playing the lead?
@UncleTonyGuitar2 жыл бұрын
Let me answer this in as uncomplicated way as I can: 1. It depends what note you play, not what note the instrument is tuned to. For example, many woodwinds are tuned to Bb and they play along with other instruments all the time. Same with harmonica, and many other instruments. 2. In this case, the guitar line was played in the studio as an overdub just as I showed you, and yes, the low D is muted when not being played open or fingered. Hope that helps!
