Hi Bassboost. Good point. Everything you practice is technical one way or another. I have a very strict practice schedule where I work on many things from, Arpeggios, Modes, Jazz Standards, BeBop etc. I always as a rule practice in a very musical creative way. When I practice technique my goal is to train my fingers to be free. If you practice different permutations you break muscle memory habits so when you are practicing more functional things you are a lot more fluent and free

As a right handed player, I was taught by my old guitar teacher to hold it on the left leg too. It seems most people hold the guitar the exact opposite. I've found the approach Tony teaches actually does make it more confortable and keeps it right in front of you.

Hi Spider5604 well in my experience a lot of cats struggle moving to the next level because there foundation and form has bad habits built into them. Therefore simplicity in fundamental practice is hip It gets you to the point without standing on your head So bring on the old it works.

Hi Tony. Thank you for these few lessons from such an educated and professional musician that you are. Often teachers become not very successful or qualified performers. And this carries the risk for their students to lose interest in music. Miss the chance to be realized. And sometimes you get health problems. Good luck with your educational projects. The guitarist's posture, the position of his hands and the way he positions the instrument relative to the body when playing sitting and standing, largely determines the progress in practice and his physical condition. Could you return to this issue again in one of the videos? How you propose to hold the instrument is determined by your experience, as well as your height, arm and finger length. In addition, the style of music and performance. Most of the time your left hand doesn't go up the neck past the 7th fret. Often moves between the 12th and 24th frets. Hi, Tony, I've not found an answer to this question, so I want to ask: why do you play Tirando, not Apoyando? I always thought that the latter is much more preferable way to pluck strings. Thanks =)

NO excersize is a "bad" excersize! Quoted from Jaco!The Master! Developing a Full Command of the Instrument is Vital, So that u can Forget the techniqual aspect of the playing and instead Speak FREELY through the instrument , without any limitations! These types of things are taught on All instruments,All music styles, So why not on Bass? Great Lesson!

So far I haven't been able to hold my bass that way.The body is too big and heavy and my left arm has to stretch out so far that it puts strain on my left shoulder.Much more comfortable resting on my right leg keeping the neck of the guitar and my left hand closer to my body.

the bass brand is "Fodera" the model im not sure but it looks like a Monarch u can find them online, quite expensive basses, hope this help u a little of bit cheers!

Practicing techniques that are purposely non-musical! That's the opposite of what Victor Wooten teaches, but I definitely admit to having 'hackneyed' habits/patterns I always fall into from having ingrained into my fingers
