This inspired me to try the sequencer drum style, numbers really help the guidelines. And as an artist, for my personal preference.. YES LEAVE THE BEAT, GIVE US ROOM, DONT DROWN. I prefer to track on like one melody and a simple drum most times.

Any chance you would know any chop/splice shortcuts? 🥶 in fl for example you can select a region of a track and select between small and large splice and it will chop the sample for you. Is there a way to do this in Logic? Thanks in advance 🤞🏼
@itstonyholiday4 жыл бұрын
No doubt! I don’t think it’s quite the same as you would do in FL. However, what you can do is select the whole region that you want to slice equally, choose your scissors tool (T + I on your keyboard), hold down option and click where you would like the region to be chopped. That will chop the audio region into equal pieces. Does that help? Thanks for watching 🙌

Question: Every time I open up Ultrabeat it gives me a bunch of preset patterns and I just want a clean UI like you have when you open the settings on it. Like yours says "Sample 1, Sample 2" etc. and mine says has like "808 Bass, High Conga" etc. I just want to start Ultrabeat w/o preset patterns and w/o preset names on my channels so I can put in my own samples w/o having to rename them all and change the settings. Thanks!
@itstonyholiday4 жыл бұрын
Good question! If you have downloaded all of the additional content with Logic there will be a preset called "Drag and Drop Samples". That's the one you're looking for. Click that and then set it as your default. Thanks for watching + the comment!

Hi great video thank you, I love your content. Quick question, Is the pitching in ultra beat accurate? I wanted to tune my drums to fit the track better.
@itstonyholiday5 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment, really pleased that you found it helpful. Yes Ultrabeat is great for pitching your drums, however if you’re trying to fine tune your drums I would recommend boosting the frequencies that coincide with they key. But if you’re just trying to change the key of your drums by a semi tone, Ultrabeat is great for that. Thank you for watching 🙌
@MrChickenking445 жыл бұрын
Tony Holiday thanks for getting back to me 🙏 your my go to guy for logic help and I love your beats ❤️. How can I boost the frequency’s to find the notes, I’ve seen people use a FabFilter eq plugin to find the note but I’m still a bit confused. Could you make a vid on this in the future? Thanks 😊
@itstonyholiday5 жыл бұрын
@@MrChickenking44 Ha homie thank you, really happy that you find the content helpful. Here's a basic step by step... but I'll make a video on this in the future. 1 - Google Image "Drum Frequency Chart". You should get an image with a bunch of numbers and they'll be coinciding with different keys (notes). 2 - Open an EQ (any will do) on the track you want to tune. Pick the number from the chart (frequency) with the key you're trying to tune to and boost it by about 2-3 db. 3 - Throw a tuner on the track and check what comes up. If it isn't the key, boost more of the frequency. Hope this helps, thanks for watching my guy!

Another great one! I've learned a lot in a short time and I can't believe Ultrabeat is that easy to use, I was kinda intimidated by it but it's actually really powerful! I do have some suggestions tho :-) The first time Ultrabeat is started you have to turn on the sequencer or else you won't hear anything, I had to Google this which is totally fine but I just wanted to mention it because it wasn't directly covered in the video. If you can maybe provide the samples you are using, I did find the Metro Booming pack thanks to your video (legend!) but I think it would help enormously for people directly following along. Lastly just a question, I've exported the beat as .wav file but it's not as punchy as the Ultrabeat one, do you have any tips on that? Use a compressor or something? I don't want to sound ungrateful but I just wanted to mention these few things, I love the content and can't wait for more! Also the 'Exciter' with the 'Vocal Edge' is a great tip from your previous video, I've used it on some other things and it's a great little trick. Thanks again Tony!
@itstonyholiday5 жыл бұрын
Thomas! Thank you for your detailed comment. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the feedback, because it helps me make these videos better. Yes I agree, I should’ve gone a little more in depth with setting up Ultrabeat for first time users seeing as this is a “Basics” tutorial. I did leave out some setup stuff and for that I am sorry! As for the samples, some of them are free (like you discovered) but some of them are from paid packs so I can’t give them out unfortunately. But some great ways to get samples are by googling what type of samples + free (eg. Free trap drums), or packs from Splice are always good and relatively low cost. In terms of making the loop sound more full. A lot of the time the drums sound really full on Logic because the sequencer will be on and you’ll also have the midi you’ve exported from the sequencer playing, so it’s essentially playing 2x the wav loop at the same time, hence making it louder and punchier. This is where mixing drums comes in (I should probably do a tutorial on this). There is no one fix for this, but if you’re strictly just looking to make your drums louder or more punchy, try throwing a gain plugin on the wav file and adjusting it accordingly. Once again Thomas, really appreciate the comment + feedback and Ill do my best to go into a little more depth and not assume anything in future videos. Good luck! Tony

I’ve found an easier way that works for me. I just copy the Ultrabeat sequence for the number of drum samples and the delete the patterns. For instance, if I have a , kick, clap, snare, and hi hat I drag and copy that one Ultrabeat pattern with all of the sounds 4 times. After I have the four Ultrabeat patterns I label each one and delete all of the midi notes except for the one it’s labeled for and that will leave you with a separate track for each sound.
