Thanks for the visual ... that is how I remember best. So would I say "gracias por la explicación"? (Like it is the movement of information from your brain to mine)?

You seem to have the idea, yes. With 'Gracias por la explicación' ... you are saying that your 'thanks' are coming by way of the explanation. As a separate point, just like you said, an explanation can create a conduit for sharing information between minds. To test that, see if you can translate the following into Spanish: 'Because of her explanation, I was finally able to understand."

But what if I was paying you to pass the food to me. Instead of por favor would it be para dos dolares?

Hi Dave...if you do something for money, you are doing it 'por dinero'...or 'porque te estoy pagando' (because I'm paying you).

Great explanation, thanks. At the end, you said once and for all "de una vez por todas" can you explain how I can visualise that as a conduit please?

Hi Lucy...the time (vez) you are doing something is like a pathway take...and by doing it (once and for all), it takes the place of all the times that you won't have to do it. Basically, the 'por todas' is all the possible future routes that you don't take.
