How is she a hero? Kinda insulting to call someone a hero just for having prosthesis. Unless she lost her legs saving someone but the video said that she was born without them.

@@wintermoon7003 She's a motivator for anyone who feels like life isn't worth living, especially those who have the same obstacles as her. She might not be a hero in your eyes but she is to others. I personally don't see the military as heros even though others do. You're probably one of the people who do. Just cuz I don't doesn't make it untrue for you or others. It's all about perspective.

@@stephanieann6622 Hey, idk what you're goin through, so I don't have any room to talk, but just know that What you are going through is completely normal and I am so proud of you for letting it all out here. Nobody on earth, born or unborn, is garbage. You are precious, as precious as every famous person, every ruler, president, bishop, CEO, as precious as everybody in the world. I know it may seem hard to think that, but remember, when you are tempted - and it IS a temptation - to think of doing the things you describe above, remember it’s not what the world thinks of you that’s important, it's that you are happy. And if these feelings do not go away, seek help, or a therapist. We don't know what to do, but they will. Reaching out is not a weakness. It's one of the strongest things you can do. It's choosing to improvise, deciding you deserve better and realizing you need help to get there. God bless.

Same but, sometimes I just wanna be a ghost to be invisible to everyone and so I can mess with people. Other times I wanna launch myself off of a building. Some days I just wanna enjoy life. I don’t know if there is something wrong with me or not. Is this normal for humans?

@@jordy9606 thank you, really. I was starting to see a therapist but my dog got sick and she had to have emergency surgery and she just got the okay to be left alone after having her Staples removed but honestly I don't consider what I'm going through normal... Im 22, already filing for temporary disability because of my severe health conditions until they can get them under control hopefully. I see 5 specialists, I'm over a half a mil in medical debt and it ain't stopping anytime soon, I haven't had a typical teen and adult life due to it. I have PTSD from being assaulted twice when I was underage, I got depression, ocd, and anxiety ontop of it. I also suffer from short term memory loss so there's days I feel like a 90yr old trying to remember things. But, Im still trying to get through it all. It's just like I can't catch a break especially these past two years. If it wasn't one thing it was another. And the way it's looking now it'll still be another 2+ yrs I'll have to live with my parents because I wouldn't be able to financially or physically support myself. It just seems like maybe i would've been better off never to exist. But I do reach out to my best friend when it gets bad, I hope to be able to see my therapist soon and starting EMDR therapy for the PTSD and trauma. I appreciate you and what you said. Life is a fucking crusty dick and a half but I'm still trying. I don't think Id go through with suicide because I wouldn't want to hurt my parents or friends the few family members that give a fuck. And especially my dog. She's been through enough as it is. I wouldn't want to put her through that. We're definitely the perfect match tho. We both have trauma from the past and health conditions. She's my fur baby and can always make me happy when it feels like nothing else can. Please have a great day though!

You wouldn't believe how much technology is already needed to create prosthetics like these. They're made to fit perfectly and to be very light while also maintaining perfect structural rigidity and longevity. To be able to produce these on a large scale with custom measurements for every order is certainly no easy feat. No pun intended.

@@Sam-TheFullBull By using new additive manufacturing techniques and making the process even more automated. Wider standardisation in (modern) amputation techniques might also help with that but it will take time. And sadly most people that have the capital to make things move only see it as another business opportunity, which means you're right, it will probably only become more expensive even if production costs go down. Especially in the US.

I know you could be talking about just any mom, but you could just as easily be talking about British artist Alison Lapper. She has no arms and shortened legs (due most likely to her birth mother's thalidomide use) and instead of using the prosthesis she was given for them, abandoned them as she felt they were, for her, holding her back. A statue of her was created by Marc Quinn when she was pregnant with her son in 2005, and it even featured in the 2012 Paralympics opening ceremony, as a testament to the perseverance of the many British people living today born disabled as a result of medical misguidance. If you ever watch the British docuseries "Child of Our Time" or "Superhuman" (both by Professor Robert Winston), you see just how ordinary she is going about her day as a disabled woman and mother.

I've seen this type of thing before but today it really hit me. I've been so unhappy with my calves because I think they're too thick in proportion to my upper legs. Everyone else told me they're fine but they bother me every day and I've been doing everything I can with exercise and dieting to try and reshape my legs. When I saw this girl being so bright and healthy with her prosthetics, I suddenly realized I should just appreciate my legs.

They used to make them more realistic, but return to the more ‘mechanical’ look because the realistic look made other people uneasy. When something looks human, but it’s not, our brain detects something is off and it looks uncanny. Same with people doing to much plastic surgery on the face. We know it is a real face but something is not quit right.
