I love the art style of this game. We’ve never really seen anything like it since. Instead of a pagan pantheon to kill, it’s cybernetic demigods influenced by Hindu and Buddhist spirituality. And that goes for the normal enemies and the setting as well. It’s clearly futuristic, but the robot soldiers are all amalgamations of different images and beings in Hindu and Buddhist art. It’s all very strange, especially to a westerner like me(and I’d suspect most of us watching), but it’s utterly fascinating to see.

BTW, if you find some QTEs are too hard to hit, like at 1:21:00, its because the QTEs are designed to run at 30 fps, so doubling the fps to 60 means doubling the amount of inputs/halving the reaction time needed for QTEs. Its not an issue for most of them, but if you dont want it to be an issue again a good middle ground is to limit your fps to 45 using a framelimiting software. It's still ALOT smoother than 30 fps and the QTEs function better.

Absolutely! This game almost single-handedly got me interested in Eastern spirituality and mythology. Which I have to add that if you understand that, it adds an extra layer of depth to what they were able to pull off here. Outside of the anime spectacle, they've reinvented Ashura from a Luciferian figure to a badass Byronic cyborg hero that takes on divine, absolute deities (Gongen means "incarnation", as in the reincarnated Buddha) with only pure rage. And then it reinterprets these omnipotent gods as supremely advanced, technological beings, which not only makes for an interesting sci-fi hook but also makes them as fallible as they are OP. A masterpiece on so many levels

The ending being behind a paywall takes any praise that this game could get, honestly. So it wasn't really biased. I've completed asura 100% and it's a fantastic story, but still the paywall and the weak gameplay takes it from being a "masterpiece"

the pacing annoyed me, not the actual in game pacing, but how everything was split into episodes with previews and pointless menus. I get what it was going for, but it's not needed for a game. Also paying for ending absolutely is a terrible decision.

It's crazy how this game has a relatively limited sound track, but the tracks are incredible and fit epic moments perfectly. This is a true clut classic, just unlocked the secret mission last night after powering through to S rank on a few of the missions. Gotta say, the game is so satisfying you're almost always left wanting more after every play through

Loved this game. I bought the hard copy for it and the only problem I had with anything was that you had to buy the last episode separate from the game. Beyond that Asura’s Wrath was a great interactive anime. More games need to play like this. A very unique genre. Lolz “it’s a little bit anime”. My guy it’s a fuck ton of anime. Watching this and remembering the plot, is interesting because this game helped me reimagine my spiritual views. (Yes you can learn much if you understand the symbolism and mythos) The Hindu-Shinto mixture was brilliant.
