@@zzirfamo24 All the major details are true. Her mom had Munchausen's by proxy and had faked that Gypsy Rose had those diagnoses, and did force her to shave her head and use a wheelchair. If you look up pictures of her she is dressed very similar to in this film. She also had her salivary glands removed, making her teeth rot and have to be pulled out. She also lied about her age so she could continue making medical decisions for her. And yes, Gypsy Rose snuck online, found a bf, and had him murder her mother. All of that really did happen. She's up for parole in 2 years, he got life without parole I think.

I know a family where the mother also did this to one of her daughters and to herself. She has Munchausen syndrome. The kids eventually got away, but the daughter had been so affected that she now still fakes her illnesses by herself, for the attention. It has been years and every few weeks/months she has a new 'serious' illness or tries to overdose (never enough to kill her but enough to be hospitalised and get everyones sympathy again). It's really sad tbh

What bother me was that he didn’t question it, he believed all of what deedee said but not once did he go check on her. Deedee did turned him away but gypsys dad never even questioned it, I think they did have a child support policy in place or something like that that, I don’t particularly remember but deedee and rod where in contact monthly for something and he never checked up on gypsy, despite his doubts about it. He was also a victim of deedee (grooming) and that’s not talked about enough, but he’s also part of the people that let gypsy down

I would trust my mother to do this. She lied to me about other family members and says I need to take her pills and stuff she brews against my "deficencies". I don't have any clinically recognized deficiencies. I don't think the stuff hurts me - they are weird herbs and vitamin pills and stuff like that but she likes to tell me that I'm gonna get really ugly and sick if I don't take all her stuff. (Like when you take a vitamin C pill, even though you have enough Vitamin C). If I think it's something too strange I always find a way not to take it. At the time when I wrote my comment I felt emotionally charged cause that person in the movie really reminded me of my mom behavior-wise. But she is not really hurting me and different from the movie I have a father who protests when he sees something too strange. You don't have to worry.
