That is exactly the point of a track car. It's easy to be fast in a slow car and have fun. Going fast in a fast car gets scary pretty quickly. Those 600+ bhp cars are built for car builders, not the drivers.

As the owner of a NB 1.8 VVT I can only be happy to have such a fantastic car. As a car critic it would have been nice to see my car be a little more powerful to have at least 15-20 km/h at different points of the track, unfortunately for a similar result at least 40 hp more would be needed for a similar performance, and unfortunately For this type of performance, too much money would be needed compared to a supercharged car that can reach this standard at a certainly lower processing price. trifles, but it would make this car perfectly in line if not more performing than slightly more renowned cars.

I would supercharge it for track, I had a turbo 1.8 vvt but it ran hot even on the street.

you've really saved the best of the classics for the end of the year, this channel is never slowing down, I love the mx-5 :D every day when I walk to my gym there's this one person that parks that dark green miata in the same spot at the same time, I'm definitely gonna approach them in the most creepy way just to give them props for having such a nice car and to take good care of it (srsly save all the chassis of all mx-5s if you can we have to preserve these beauties for generations to come!)

hi Misha, again a amazing video. love seeing these mx5's go around the ring. they might not be the fastest but they handle so well with some nice subtle mods. Need to take my NC back next year for more laps ( not as fast as you drive offcourse) ;)

When you had that trouble with the top cracking open at 180 kph on Schwedenkreuz (5:47) you bled off some speed and were passed by a dark blue BMW (?). I kept hoping you’d catch up and overtake but it seemed unlikely. Then, at 9:35, you blew right past him before the Karrussel. Very satisfying! Driver upgrade wins again.

People are often surprised at how little it takes to achieve phenomenal braking in a Miata. Pads, fluid and hoses will get them to a level where they bite like crazy and simply won't fade. I also agree the master cylinder brace is worth it. The firewall flexes more than you'd think under heavy brake application. On my NC, it's possible to upgrade the brakes using parts from the RX8 but it adds about 12kg of mass, so most people don't bother unless they have the extra power (and speed) to justify it.
@csechrist1 Жыл бұрын
My dad used to autocross his, no other brake mods other than the pads and braided lines. Those low-temp brakes had the silliest amount of power though.

The Greek guy who has a YT channel who lives in Nurburgring his name is Kostas I think? The guy with the long beard, I remember seeing him lapping a black Mazda RX7 tracktool setup with a bing wing, couldnt find any RX7 onboard vids of the ring at the time, that car was phenomenal but the only issue was the suspension seemed so stif the car kept jumping! I'm not an engineer, not a specialist, I wish I was but I think it is cool to setup your car & suspension before taking it on track like they do in Japan!

5:24 common problem with these cars, the latch button gets worn down and doesn't holt it closed as hard or at all. happened with mine the 2nd day after I bought it and just stuck a piece of cardboard there for a few days. ez fix: drill a hole, add a small screw to tighten the gap

Respect for car and owner, but can I also share credits for the girlfriend: we haven’t seen her, but she accompanies her friend to the Ring and Spa for multiple trackdays, while the long journey happens in a roadster with bucket seats.
@Turboman_64 Жыл бұрын
True, but also keep in mind that bucket seats are typically more comfortable than most standard seats. Both in the Exige Sport 350 that i could test drive once and in my 695 the bucket seats are super chill to sit in, even with that "aggressive" side support. But yes doing such a journey in a car is quite exhausting. I remember my father driving us to greece with the E30 3.20i he had back in the 90s over the same route down to Ancona in Italy and taking the ferry overnight to get to Patra and continue another half day trip to get to our destination, when flight tickets where too expensive. I wouldn't endure that trip voluntarily again. 3 days on the road and ship compared to 2,5 hours in the plane is nuts.
@ericsson_motorsports11 ай бұрын
MX-5 owner here, that issue with the latch is likely due to a worn release button, maybe combined with a slightly wrong adjustment of the latch. The release buttons tend to wear down which means that nothing actually locks them in place, there are a few simple fixes for this. Also, if the top is adjusted wrong and sticks up above the windshield frame then there will be more aerodynamic forces trying to pull the roof open

Worn top latches are known to pop open on their own on a bumpy road. He's pretty lucky they didn't open any more. I'd hate to see what would happen if the top flew open at over 100mph.
