Trevor, that is one great video and thanks making it for us all to enjoy. Hillco's new HC1010 Harrow available in 48', 60', 72' & 84' 16 bar harrows. Tell your good boss to get an 84 foot harrow for that tractor.

Looks like you are doing good Trevor. I will pass those hills. Enjoying your videos since it is close to home. Fun to see Washington state stuff.

I would imagine pulling those heavy drills through those hills can be very challenging.

Yeah, i dont wanna do it. I spray behind the drills for the most part. I dont drive the no til drills

Thanks again Trevor. I hope you are able to top-up your income from this, it is very worthwhile. I hope you can earn enough to be content. Well done too for pulling-through and finding something that you enjoy - try to make the most of every moment (which I know is not easy). You may feel alone in that cab, miles from anywhere, but we are with you!

The hills keep things exciting. How many flatlanders have Jake brakes on their tractors? I could watch these videos all day.

Some of these guys in the hills dont have them, and it can be a bit exciting. Last summer i was running a John Deere T track with no jake brake, pulling a grain cart. Without one, 1st and 2nd gear are your friend.

One day, maybe one of the big subscriber count farmers could come out here and drive and ride along. That would be funny

Another great video! The audio content makes a huge difference in your presentation. Im interested in why the harrowing? I guess to flatten out furrows, or spread straw. Again, showing how steep the ground is makes your content special!!
@TrevorStruthers Жыл бұрын
To spread out and break up the straw thats laid fat on the ground. We couldnt go as low as we would like with the mower. Its either this or burn. Id rather we didnt burn and lose all the straw that holds this powdered up soil together
@John-nc4bl Жыл бұрын
Those were good camera angles that were taken to show the steepness of the terrain.

Here in Kentucky we have some steep farmland we put duels on the back and have the hubs all the way at the end of the axle and then use clamp on duels and we can run on some pretty bad hills I was just wondering how them swevill tractors on tracks and tires how do they do going around hill side
@TrevorStruthers Жыл бұрын
I prefer an articulated tractor for the sidehills. They can turn and still pull a hill. The two track tractors tend to just spin one track fast and nothing happens.
@John-nc4bl Жыл бұрын
Is there not limited slip for a tracked tractor-? The wheeled tractors have limited slip in their diffs.@@TrevorStruthers

Is running the harrow just to loosen the soil a little for seeding? I take it you’re running mostly no till drills? Sobriety is everything, although only know you from your videos still proud of you man! I’m a couple months away from 8 years clean.
@TrevorStruthers Жыл бұрын
Were trying to beat the straw up so it scatters it and breaks it up. That way we can seed thru it, without plugging up.

Is it cost effective to run a harrow thru the stubble_?
@TrevorStruthers Жыл бұрын
With these tractors pulling it, probably not. It just had to be done. The aussie in another comment has the smart way of doing it. Small tractor, but its flat. We dont really have small tractors.

Are doing the hole field or just the hills mate
@TrevorStruthers Жыл бұрын
My tractor just harrowed about 3000 acres. So all of the fields we harrowed, we did the entire thing. The hills dont need it as much as the flats, cause the wheat grows like shit on the hills
