To move your cars while under sail, Adam, attach a line from your toe rail to the headsail clew. Make it taught. Slack the sheet, transferring the clew to the new line. Adjust your car then take up on the sheet. Remove the toe rail-to-clew line. We keep a length of 3/8" 3 strand with a snap shackle on one end in the cockpit just for this. You can use the lazy sheet for this, too, but that takes a few more steps.

Have to ask Adam, why are you always rowing "backwards"? I always understood that it's more efficient to pull yourself than it is to push. I have, of course, only rowed boats designed for rowing, not a dinghy.

Watching a few older episodes because of the algorithm and it's still as much fun as the first time. This brought up the question, how did you experience, post-Hydrovane-installation, not having to be at the helm and finicky course/wind adjustments all the time? Especially on the long crossings.

Love watching these videos of Iceland! Brings back lots of memories of a trip I did driving a 4x4 around the coast years ago (sticking as close as I could to the coastline) I remember going past that hotspring! Definitely remember the fijords being much bigger than you might think - that 20mile deep one would have meant a 40 mile drive :-)! The whale was a humpback, no interest in rudders - only Krill :-)!

We have no jib cars, ie zero, nil nada on a 47’ boat with 55’ masthead rig flying a 135% 57m2 genoa but get on just fine with very simple 4:1 “handy billy” purchase downhaul arrangements using reasonably light Ronstan blocks, 8mm line and Wichard soft blocks to capture the sheet. From the winch, the sheet goes aft around a large turning block and out through the lifelines to the headsail clew. Between the turning block and clew, we put the soft block over/around the sheet and simply haul down to a pad eye or stanchion base on the rail and cleat off to a horn cleat near the cockpit winches. Even with half the headie furled in there’s not that much weight on the line that the 4:1 can’t be hauled in by hand. Very simple solution that for once on a boat, didn’t cost much. The same handy billy can be used for all sorts of things, from lifting the outboard on board to barber hauling spinnaker sheets and dragging the boom way off centre at anchor. Don’t make the mistake of buying blocks with clam cleats built into them as we did initially, they’re really hard to get uncleated and you have to leave the cockpit to do so. The specific blocks are RF40500 & RF40510 or RF40200 & RF40210. The second set are side by side double blocks that will pull closer together, but twist the line more easily and are much dearer. The part numbers ending with a 10 have a becket to anchor the line to. It’s also worth buying a spare becket pin or two (RF41010) as these sometimes go missing. The Wichard soft block is likely MXLEvo 12 Part no 21105 for 12mm sheet. Buy two of everything as you WILL want one on both sides and you find yourselves using them all the time! What I really love is that it’s so easy to always have your headie setting right, especially when reaching when the leach otherwise falls off at the top.

Hot pools are art, Did you guys get your body temp way up , and then run for the cold water and see if you can " get there" , loving the cold water cooling down the body for some time. Spend 3,4, or 5 hours playing with this idea next time, if you're so lucky to have cool-cold water close by. That looked like the spot.

@2:30 , When I moved up to Maine I stopped using my Mantus because roll bar anchors have this problem with kelp. False sense of security as you think you're dug in but it's just the kelp holding you. Anchors like Delta, Excel and Spade work much better in heavy kelp and not as much cleanup also. Excellent videos. Stay dry and warm. And avoid the fermented 6 gill shark at all costs. Now jumbuck pizza...
