So I had a whole bunch of cuttings from my too little leaf ficus benjamina and decided to make a forest grouping from them. Enjoy!

Got my coffee ready to watch. ☕️ I remember watching the video where these came from. I haven’t been able to pot mine yet because I’m missing a couple ingredients to finish making my soil. I remember in one of your videos you mentioned you didn’t want to reuse it so I’m waiting for fresh. That’s an awesome idea with that cardboard. Oh man that’s going to be something for me to get used too, I don’t like trimming my plants😂. Another awesome video thanks for sharing Mike!

Thanks Eric! And yeah I have buckets of dirt everywhere. I have my "fresh" stock, my "old and disgusting" stock, and lots of, "kinda used, probably still good" buckets. My girlfriend just loves finding buckets of dirt everywhere 🙃

@@BonsaiBoise 🤣🤣😂🤣😂😂 my wife was Happy in the spring when it was time to get her living room back. Not so much last month when they came back in plus new ones 🤣😂 I love plant propagating. Some day everything will be moved to a different location, but for now it is what it is. Have a great week!

Hi, I am in Connecticut. My local bonsai supplier told me that Ficus Too Little is a proprietary cultivar from a grower in Florida. My supplier does a special order from his wholesale nursery to get Too Little for me. I also don't see them for sale around Connecticut.

I'm in Connecticut too..where do you get yours from?? I've ordered some via the internet.

Yeah I pounced on the one I have as soon as I found it. I've taken a bunch of cuttings since then just in case the main one dies. Who knows when I'll see one again

@BonsaiBoise how do you root your cuttings? Do you put them in water ? I've tried root hormone and plastic bag for humidity with no success..
@BonsaiBoise Жыл бұрын
@@dkstott29 I always put them in a cup or water for a few weeks first. From there o put them in the grow tent but a window works too. I have a little $20 window sill heat pad for cuttings that helps, but I've done it without that too. It's a little bit of an art, figuring out how much foliage to leave. Too much and it's too much stress, too little and it's not enough to push out roots. For like a pencil size cutting, I would leave 3 or 4 leaves.

Thanks Kennet, it's a good start, now I have to resist messing with it and let it grow. Not my strongest suit sometimes 🙃

You're so much more patient with your cuttings than me. The impatience must be why bonsai hobbyists have dozens or hundreds of trees 😅 Three is just not doing it for me, I want to fiddle with them nonstop. Shoved them to the back of the grow tent to discourage eager hands.

I'm usually not to be honest! These kind of flew under the radar all this time somehow. But I agree about having dozens, (or hundreds) of little trees. That's definitely true for me!

Question for Mike: I'm curious if you've ever heard of a Russian Olive Bonsai? I know they're an invasive species, but the bark could make for an interesting bonsai
@BonsaiBoise Жыл бұрын
I cannot say that I have. I am not familiar with Russian olive, but I did a quick search and they do seem to be suitable. There weren't a ton of examples but I did see a few.
