NOTE: this PART has been re-uploaded to fix mistakes from when I first played out Day 4. If you are interesting in seeing my mistakes (primarily I stunned for 1 turn instead of 2, and treated Hardy wrongly), the original film was here: • Too Many Bones - PART ...

Hey Ricky, I am a bit late to the party here but at 22:27 I believe how corrosive works in that situation is you would apply the Golem's attack damage first and if there are any defensive dice left over in the active slots they would immediately exhaust. So in this instance you could use your 2 defense to soak up 2 incoming damage from him and Nugget would only take 1 damage. The defensive die would not be exhausted in this case since it was not left over for corrosive to affect. What you did was more difficult on your play through and you still won so good job. Anyways, I love your channel! You have been my go to ever since you did Mage Knight :)

You're right yes ; the CTG guys approved the ruling when I did the video, but yup, this one was subsequently errata'd to be as you describe, so things are a little better now ... thank goodness! Thanks for watching and enjoying the show! R.R.

Great editing Ricky and great change of tactics to get the win. Difficult to believe some people doubt the variety and replayability of this game when we have just seen you play the same battle with different tactics.

Thanks for doing these, Ricky. I initially passed, but your videos sucked me back in and I made it just in time for the pre-order. Naturally I had to get all the add ons, and the upgraded chips. Just like Hoplomachus....

I know I'm late to the party, but I haven't seen anyone pointing out these, so here we go: - Corrosive only takes away your remaining Defense dice after you've defended. - Fortunate Discovery could have also been used to tick up your slingshots stones to 5 instead of taking one of the other consumables.
@BoxofDelights
@BoxofDelights 7 жыл бұрын
Re Corrosive: Yes, I see that has changed now, according to the FAQ. Makes Corrosive less brutal - and every little bit is appreciated! Re Fortunate Discovery: I've not seen that ruling. Is it an errata? or FAQ item?

Because of your great videos I have now pre-ordered the game. They really help as I pick things up better from watching play than from reading rules. A question though, its seemed odd the Stone Golem had to roll again to avoid the pit trap on his return as logically the second time he would know where it was. I assume the verdict is that this was played correctly? Certainly rules as written indicate this to be the case. I guess Stone Golems don't have good memories? (nor any baddies for that matter). Thanks again for sharing your work (play?).

haha! great question. Yes, I though the same. But yes, it was played correctly. Stone Golems are very dim.....

You forgot to add the +1 damage from the lucky die the first time you attacked the golem around 21:42. You rolled 2 damage but only took away 2 health chips.

@22:57 you say that you can't roll your defense die, because its exhausted. Don't defense dice normally just go back to the supply, ready to be rolled again?
@BoxofDelights
@BoxofDelights 7 жыл бұрын
they do normally, but remember, I am fighting a baddie with the corrosion ability, which exhausts my defence dice.

Question, @18:30 you attack a baddie with your longblade. Is it possible to attack a ranged enemy with a melee weapon? Or did you attack and then run away? Also, is attacking (rolling) and then moving even possible?
@georgea5162
@georgea5162 7 жыл бұрын
Also in 20:15. From watching the official Nugget overview I thought the Longblade can be used for melee attacks only. Has that changed in the rules recently?
@steftymo
@steftymo 7 жыл бұрын
Longblade is a melee/ranged weapon. You spend dex on any movement then roll with remainder of dex. You can't move after attacking. Unless there is a skill that allows it.
@BoxofDelights

It has always been melee-ranged: Adam made a mistake in his Nugget video.

Hi, Ricky - great playthrough! I really enjoy your presentations. This is the third play of TMB that I've watched, all from different presenters, all against different overlords. In all three, the adventure cards (?) drawn were exactly the same (first day: train or loot), (second day: arrows from the wall), (third day: deal with the shady merchants), (fourth day: set a trap/"be my own bait")... I've not played TMB, so I have to wonder: is there no variability in the cards, as to the order they come out? Or is this progression a "scenario" for new players, maybe? Thanks!
@BoxofDelights
@BoxofDelights 6 жыл бұрын
the first few cards of the same; they are really there as a prelude to the real adventure, to walk you through setting up your character's starting skills. They changed this for Undertow and introduced different "setup" cards.

Note that the lucky die should have been moved to the active slot and not in the skill area of the mat. It did not make a difference here, but in other encounters and in party play where you could have defense or other gearloc abilities (picket comes to mind) active on a gearloc, it could become a space issue and you would have to not apply an effect or flush an existing one in order to use a new one.

Are you sure that the enemy you scouted gets to go back on top of the stack after you searched it for the enemy? Granted I'm applying logic from a different genre of game but in card games, for instance, just because you know what the top card of your deck is from a previous effect it doesn't stop that card from being shuffled into the deck if you need to shuffle for some reason.

It's interesting to see how the rematch played out so differently than the first attempt on day 4. Applying the hardy skill correctly really forced you to change your tactics. Fortunately the two-turn stun effect was enough to offset that and grant you the victory! Well done! Every battle playthough I watch of this game shows me more and more how much tactical thinking is required. Definitely getting excited for this one! Also, your production on these videos is quite excellent! You seem to get all the right camera angles and close ups that the gamer is really interested in seeing. You also seem to give just the right amount of explanation of what you are doing and how the rules apply. Do you use multiple cameras or do you move the camera around and re-record different bits? Either way, we definitely appreciate the amount of time you spend on getting these out!
@BoxofDelights

aw, thanks Brian! That's glowing feedback - thanks to you for spotting my errors so I had an opportunity to fix it ! Much appreciated. It's just one camera... it takes time to do, but hopefully it gives you a more interesting film to watch. I don't re-record stuff though, it's all "live"... so I stop, re-position, carry on.. stop, re-position, carry-on... about 100 times per 20 mins!

FYI: with your long blade you have all the attack you need on the Kobold (cause he can only take 1 damage). You decided to roll extra Attack dice in hopes of rolling bones for your backup plan. You actually should have rolled Defense dice there because they have a higher probability of rolling Bones than Attack dice. ;)

You should not have attacked the Kobold in round 5 since fatigue would have killed him anyway. Attacking the other guy would have been better.
