In this episode of Solo Playthroughs, Greg presents another playthrough of Too Many Bones and, for the second time, he turns to the shield-wielding, bash-happy Picket! Picket loves his shields and, once he beefs up his initial stats, he can be an absolutely devastating combo of tank and wrecking ball. The Tyrant we are adventuring against: Marrow, a giant Orc intent on crushing every gearloc he sees with his giant club. It's tactical prowess v. strength and gearloc beauty v. orc beast in this matchup. Which one of the two will be left standing!?

@26:19 (edit: and every time after this :) ) you are supposed to re roll any bones from your first roll for defence upgrade: Manual Page 11. So you should have re rolled the bones .. then again with your rolling it probably wouldn't have mattered :P The reason for the re roll on Defence upgrades and not Atk is Def dice have more bones.

​@@SoloPlaythroughs Yeah, Rocket is correct, you only have a 1/9 chance (per die) of failing a def training attempt, because you get to reroll any rolled bones once. So Def is a bit easier to train than Atck, if you are using the correct rules. That said, your build in 40:45 is IMHO very solid going into a Day 4 battle, with your 4 Dex letting you roll your 2atck/2def, and giving you enough Dex to get that Stand Ground up and running. This is especially the case when the tyrant brings along Bog-Type baddies, because Stand Ground is key for surviving vs. poison.

1:24:00 a quick clarification on the bottom option of 'A Dire Situation'. When it says "Can only use Skill dice the first 2 rounds" it means that: - In the first two rounds, you can use Skill dice but you cannot use attack or defence dice - In rounds 3+, you can use any dice. This is a very commonly misplayed card, as it was not obvious whether the emphasis is on *only* (as above) or on *the first 2 rounds* (as you played it). In more recent printings of the game, they changed the font of that encounter card so the word *only* is in italics, to make it a little bit clearer.

@@SoloPlaythroughs Sorry, it is my bad, i got confused when watching the video and I thought you were trying to do the bottom option. The way you used the bead to mark the top option made it seem to me as if you placed it there to hide the option you were not taking!

So glad you are playing my all time favorite game again. I will come back to Daelore once my Hoplo pledge fulfills as I also added Splice and Dice and Nugget. Then of course Unbreakable.....Alms for the poor? One thing - on Day 2 you rolled the attack instead of the defense dice....and you still rolled two bones????

It is nice to see that it just isn't me who gets one shot a turn or two into the game, true solo is just tough with this game, one bad roll and just end it so early into the game.

Def not the only one, Razma! True solo can be rough the first few days but can get a lot easier as you build up your stats, with nerfed tyrant encounters that can be absurdly easy. Two-handed is generally easier early but can scale a lot harder late, which is why it’s generally considered the toughest gearloc count. 🙂
