What!? Too many engines? Does. Not. Compute. Thanks for the shout out Michael. Seeing your battery engines with your crazy wonderful “smoke” units that use only electricity and water running on my elevated deck loop was fantastic. And the amount of visible water vapour pumped out was better than any oil smoke unit I have ever seen. It even rivalled the amount of real steam coming from my live steamer! I look forward to our next running session. I look forward to your video on these units.

The number of locomotives you need is described by the formula N=N+1 where N is the current number of locomotives you own.

I actually have one of those Bachmann Russian decapod engines. I personally renumbered mine from SLSF 1632, to BL&G railroad (my personal model railroad) banking engine number 7. It’s a very nice engine, and the repaint that I did to it makes it look amazing. I’ll be posting a video of it running in a few weeks, after I get dcc for it.

I like the unique look of that new station. A refreshed paint job complementing the W & SC livery would make it look even better.

Definitely! I'm considering painting it to match the W&SC's primarily maroon color scheme.

Hey Michael, love your content. Your audio quality is solid, but you might benefit from some acoustic foam panels in the immediate area you record!

Thanks! I have been thinking about getting some of those panels. Need to figure out where to put them so they won't be obvious in the videos.

A couple months back I picked up a spectrum mountain and it runs decent except for a grinding noise that I can’t locate and the pickup brushes Bending themselves out of shape
@michaelramsey81 Жыл бұрын
The pickups bending is a common issue with any loco that uses wheel wipers for pickup. The grinding noise could be a wire rubbing on a moving part somewhere.

You can never have too many locomotives. (Side note I have like over 50 locomotives) also you should do a where you show all of your locomotives like a sort of collection video

I definitely have a collection video on the list for future projects! I've had quite a few requests for it.

Love the look of that new station! The new decapod looks great too! I might get a GP9 at some point. Also there is no such thing as too many models!
@michaelramsey812 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The Walthers Trainline GP9 is a surprisingly decent model for how cheap it is. The proportions aren't perfect (like the old Athearn ones, the long hood is slightly wider than scale), but it runs very quiet and adequately smooth, and it looks good enough from a distance. At some point, I'll probably replace it with the more detailed Walthers Mainline model.
@modelrailfan37 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelramsey81orry for only commenting this now, but the differences between the Walthers Trainline and Mainline GP9s are really just that the moulded detail on the Mainline version is a bit better, and there are crew figures fitted to the cab. The mainline one is DCC Ready as well, while the Trainline one is not, however it is still relatively easy to fit a decoder to the Trainline one. All in all, if your upgrading for detail (which I assume you are since the Trainline one runs so well), then you might want to look into a Proto 2000/Walthers Proto GP9. They still are reasonably priced for what they are, as if you shop around you should be able to find a DCC Ready Walthers Proto one new for under $200, and the detail on them is amazing.
@michaelramsey81 Жыл бұрын
@@modelrailfan37 That's good to know, thanks. I assumed the Mainline one would be a different molding to fix the issue of the hood being slightly wider than scale (which is also true of the old Athearn GP9).
@modelrailfan37 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelramsey81 it is a slightly different mold, but I don’t know if that issue has been fixed (to be completely honest I wasn’t aware of it.) I know Sam’sTrains has a good review on the Mainline model, but he doesn’t usually go into prototypical accuracy, but you might be able to see in video if it does look over-scale.

Me with more locos and more on the way: theres nothing wrong with this
@samfirn4952 жыл бұрын
Do you recommend the 2-10-0 because I've herd its not a good puller because of the band driven drive?
@michaelramsey812 жыл бұрын
Most of the Spectrum HO steam engines use the belt drive. There's nothing wrong with it at all, and they pull just as well as my locos from other brands. It's a toothed belt, so there's no risk of it slipping. The 2-10-0 is a nice loco, but it doesn't seem to like my 18" radius curves as much as the other ones do. I think it would run better on 22" radius. I'd buy the 2-8-0 over the 2-10-0, personally.

Hey mike I also went to a train show and got 3 things the big one is an newer version of the ihc 4-8-2 and man that thing is like a Toyota so reliable, and two rolling stock a cattle car and a boxcar from micro trains, something I find quite odd is that the bachmann rolling stock I have is much louder than the micro trains are is it the wheels of the trucks? sincerely Daniel Ramirez
@michaelramsey812 жыл бұрын
Could definitely be the wheels. A lot of Bachmann N scale cars have metal wheels, while Micro-Trains cars tend to have plastic wheels. Although they are louder, the metal wheels also tend to be more reliable and don't derail as often, so if the noise doesn't bother you, it might be a good idea to replace the wheels on your Micro-Trains cars with metal ones at some point.
