Awesome story to share. Thank you. I am heading down this path as well. Pastures already set up Silvo pasture style. Now I am adding in diverse grasses and flowers.

Always cutting down forests for your bogus theories. The birds are happier with heavy wooded areas.

Some birds, in some places, maybe... How silly to think a dense forest is the ideal for every ecosystem. It is diversity that allows them to thrive, not any one habitat, no matter where they are "happiest" AKA safest from predators including humans. OLD growth, and OVER grown... two VERY different things.

False. It would help you to do some research… Just visit an in-tact grassland. You will see and hear the mega-diversity of wildlife, including songbirds, much more so than in dense, old-growth forests. And quail, specifically, require grassland habitat to live and raise their young.

This highlights the immense challenge of re-developing natural ecosystems. The public at large, even those who care, are woefully ignorant.
