@@frankjankovich3512 Or your survivors sell them on eBay. I'm pretty sure I've gotten more than a few that way, some good deals, when the survivor knows little to nothing about model railroading and sets a price well below what they are worth (of course if it's a bid situation, the collectors know what it's worth and bid it up fairly quickly, but the straight sales, I usually snap them up before someone else does)

Thanks for all that Chris! My.favorite era of railroading was that of streamlined steam passenger. You have two of them, the Santa Fe Blue Goose (that I do not have), and the Lionel Empire State Express set (that I am fortunate to have) and MTH Empire State Express (that I also have). Unfortunately all of the development of streamlined steam was suddenly interrupted by the outbreak of World War II and the development of streamlined steam was sacrificed to the War effort of the early to mid nineteen forties. When the War ended advances in rail streamlining was, except for the N & W, all diesel. Again thanks for sharing. The hobby needs young enthusiastic guys (and gals) like you. Keep up the great work you are doing!

When I attended the TCA York train show in the 1970's and'80's, we sought prewar and post war models. What fun we had searching for that one item, not sure that (even though the show was even then huge) the item would actually be there. The 1990's was more of the same. We had plenty of MPC as my father by then had a Hobby shop called Jack's Trains and Hobbies in east Tennessee. Again, thank you so much for recalling my memories and for creating your own memories. Family and friends, that is what this hobby is all about, the trains are the vehicle.

We still use my grandfather's The General set every Christmas. Unfortunately, the horses and fences for the flat car got lost long before I was born, so it's nice seeing it as originally intended! My favorite engine is the GWR 14xx tank engine. Favorite American engine would be the streamlined K4 (with the complete skirt - make it look like one big torpedo shooting down the track). Hopefully next year I'll be able to make it out to York too! Sounds like lots of fun!

Hey man, just wanted to say that I've been watching your channel for a few months now and I genuinely really enjoy your videos! Your layout is super well done, the scenery looks great and the track placement is super well done, I also really like how the wood on the edge of the table is smoothly cut for the track to run along-side it. This was a super great haul, you got some insanely cool stuff and made some really great choices getting them! The Sharknose military paint scheme really fits the name of the engine type haha, I saw a set of those at my local hobby shop a few weeks back and thought they were awesome, it's cool to seem them in action! The Katy engine is super neat as well as I'm so used to seeing you with the shirt for it on and the tank car looks great sporting the paint scheme too. The Empire State Express hudson looks and sounds fantastic, I really love the whistle Lionel gave it and it just has such an iconic design, even though I do HO scale I would absolutely love to get a hold of one at some point. (with sound would be a huge plus) All the other stuff you got is super cool too, love the Blue Goose and the E8's, that plane car is crazy big but super unique and cool, and the older stuff has a really nice charm. Overall this was a really fun video to watch and I figured I'd leave a comment as I haven't left one on one of your videos yet and you're honestly starting to become one of my favorite model train KZbinrs; in general I've been really inspired by watching videos from the community, I'm thinking of starting my own train-related channel around Christmas as I have a smaller layout and collection that I'm trying to expand so thanks for being a part of that inspiration to do so! Keep up the fantastic work man and thanks for sharing! :)

Hey Chris, great haul!! I have to say, the Lionel Sharkmouth really stood out to me. These sharkmouths are respectfully modeled after the AVG’s (American Volunteer Group) aka as the Flying Tigers that fought over in China, to help protect China and the Burma Road out of India from the Japanese at the onset of World War II in December 1941. These pilots had painted their Curtis P-40 Warhawks this paint scheme on the front of their planes, and the Chinese people said these Americans fight like tigers, Flying Tigers!! The AVG’s were disbanded on July 4, 1942, and the pilots were put into the USAAF (Untied States Army Air Force). However, the planes kept their sharkmouth paint scheme, and the pilots were still called the Flying Tigers. Hence the Army Green, and the same exact sharkmouth paint scheme on the front of the new Lionel locomotives. The AVG’s and the Curtis P-40’s are so remembered and respected.by this sharkmouth design!!
