Too Much Rain! Getting Off Trail: AT Day 179

What a day yesterday re bog. I feel for you. I was watching the Debbie storm track and looks like it's following the AT. Here it was the days of rain. Some of our friends in class 2024 are going to get very wet. Hope things are going well

Hopefully there won't be as much rain as last year for the 2024 folks. Old Buzzard is on trail right now doing the Mountains To Sea Trail in NC. Am sure he is getting damp.

Beautiful lakes in that area of Maine. Our kayaking was on the other side of Flagstaff lake with beautiful fall colors. So glad you had Old Buzzard and Possum to hike with and to watch out for each other especially with all the wet and falls. Those mud bogs are really stinky. No fun to fall in.

That's my husband's comment. I've since watched it all again and I'm at this point on the comments. We ran into some hikers last week on a local trail and the wife had an AT shirt on and the husband had through hiked in 2007. She had hiked some but mostly supported him. They had just lost their dog who was a greyhound named Stella. I told them we watch AT vlogs each year and last year we followed Greyhound and Bailout, The Hiking Movie. She said, you mean Joanne? I'm Facebook friends with her! This was Linda and Fred, if I remember correctly. They live reasonably close to us in Canton, Georgia.

I hope you returned that rain jacket to REI. Gore-tex should certainly be rain proof! Perhaps it was defective? Hiking wet and cold is horrible 😫

I would have given you the trail name "Cow-Wapunga" from that incident. That way it references the story (important part of a trail name) yet is not embarrassing should you choose not to tell the story!
