Too Much Stuff! Giving Up Astronomy? When Is I time To Sell!

I am planning on retiring from teaching in a few years and will most likely be moving. Moving to Cabo or to a winery is most likely not going to happen so I may have to go with a more portable setup when we move and I will have to get rid of some of my stuff. So I am starting now!

Retired last summer. Have bought more stuff than ever!. It is glorious to stay up all night and sleep during the day and not have to worry about giving a lecture.😅

Thanks Jeff. I did not know you had the Askar FMA 180. It seems very similar to the TPO in specs and price. Do you have a preference? Cheers Kurt

@@AstroQuest1 the TPO 180 and the Askar 180 are basically the same scope. I have the TPO 180. I recently got the FMA 180 Pro, which is an upgraded version of the TPO/FMA 180. Haven’t tried it yet, but I have a feeling it will be my new favorite scope.

Redcat is an excellent choice. I love my Redcat 51. The only downside is the helical focuser. But it's light enough to pair with a StarAdventurer GTi in a portable rig. I think a 71 will also work with that mount (but double check the weight).

Retirement is fun Kurt! Every time I sell astro gear, I end up using the money to buy more astro gear.

Can't come soon enough Joe. I actually sold the Hyperstar and Coma corrector in less than a day on CloudyNights. Now I have the money to do just that, buy more stuff - Ha Ha. I will hold of on the smaller scope until I do more research but am going to get another Pegasus Pocket power to run my portable set up. Cheers Kurt

What about moving to Chili? You like desert. You will get there. You like astro, you will get there. Then, you could spend 3/4 of pension for renting scopes. Proper scopes. You will not need a lot of cheap gizmos.
