okay but 22:14 is the PERFECT backrow hit form and camera angle.. watch it in slow motion. really impressive.

It might not work the same for you because you have a go pro on your head. But when you spread block you should tilt your head down on like a 45 and with just your eyes look up so you can try to see a bit still. Then instead of face it would hit your forehead/top of head. Still wont feel great, but its better than your face.

whenever I block I always instinctively close my eyes right as the ball is hit. do you have a way of stopping that?
@themiller33194 ай бұрын
this is a mental problem, not a physiological one. I genuinely think that you might just not be blocking with the right technique, so you lack confidence in your block causing you to be scared of the ball. If you learn to trust your block, I think the problem will go away. But you could try some exposure therapy. If you ever do hitting lines, ask to set a block and instead of paying attention to form or your jump, only focus on consciously keeping your eyes open. As a last resort take a volleyball to a wall and hit high balls so they bounce back into an overhand pass. Find a good distance and swing hard so the ball goes fast. Instead of overhand receives, just mimic a block and again, focus on keeping eyes open. That's really all I can think of to attack this specific problem. As with everything in sports, practice practice practice. That's the only way to improve.

I agree with miller. Sometimes I do find myself closing my eyes too, it’s usually against people I know are really good and can hit really hard and it freaks me out haha. I should really try to focus more on my technique to avoid this

Maybe you need to open block sometime you blocking alone on the middle, reducing chance for block out. You got big hand though. Or tilt your block little bit infront of your opponent direction
