Indecision is one of my struggles... I'm going to give this a go and see how I do. Thanks, Lori, I learn so much from you. Another struggle for me is that I fight fatigue off and on, so when it's bad, I stop maintaining things. Then, when I have a good day, I push hard to get everything done. Ironically, that hard push can make me fatigued again if I overdo it. I want to incorporate simple, quick maintenance steps for everyday.

Love this video! One of my big decision-making challenges is picking out pieces of clothing/accessories that go together as an outfit. Invariably, when I'm getting ready to go out, I leave my bedroom in a chaos of clothing I've madly tried on and thrown off in my rush. Of course, the answer to that problem would be to plan in advance, which I'm working on. :) I'm also trying to make a habit of taking a picture of myself in a full-length mirror whenever I put together an outfit I like. That way I can remember what goes together the next time I'm deciding what to wear. At some point I'd like to divide the pics into categories such as "dinner with friends," "parties," etc.), but I'm not quite that organized (yet).

Great video Lori, Sometimes clutter is a reflection of powerlessness. My aging father is struggling with a debilitating illness, caring for my mother who has dementia and unable to imagine giving up the hope that the kids will come back and help. He lives in dispair and fears that he will leave a big mess. Clutter has many meaning in our lives. Your extraordinary videos are helping me help my beloved family. Thank you!

Hi Lorie - I am thrilled to have run across your channel. I knew I was frustrated from something but had no idea "decision fatigue" was what it was called! Never put a name to it but that is EXACTLY what I have! You are are a pleasure to follow as you are concise and down to earth. I can't wait to see your other videos. Thank you!

I have so much decision fatigue! It sometimes overwhelms me. I finally put things away and organized some in our master bedroom and now I feel even a few days later, unmotivated to keep going. It's exhausting figuring out where to put everything! I am expecting twins and will soon have 5 children so getting organized and out of this horrible clutter is not an option anymore it's a necessity.

oh my goodness God bless you. Thank you so much! I was just talking to myself about that yesterday. Because I get such headaches from trying to make choices and decisions of how to declutter my house it is awful. I will definitely implement this process. my house what are ideas do you think to help declutter massive amounts of paper due to Medical of Financial and just general mail I am a terrible organizer when it comes to my own stuff but not other people's thank you.

This resonates with me. Routines and lists take the stress out of decision making for things that are non-issues. I create kits for various things to help with this as well, e.g. travel kits (includes check list), a car kit, clean up kit with checklist.

I use the searchable notes app that comes with my iPhone for jotting down things in different categories. For example, one note is entitled "measurements & models". I have everything from the model number of my printer ink to the dimensions of the area rug I want to buy, the name/number of my hair colouring, favourite lipstick brand and shade, etc. For groceries I use the shopshop app, and for everything else I use the reminders app which also comes with the iPhone. I can tick off items on various lists there. For example, one reminder list is when I have borrowed or lent something, where I can write that I borrowed a book or dvd from friend A or lent something to friend B. I have lists for travel packing, promises made (I hate to forget that I promised something to somebody), lists of meal ideas, books and movies others have recommended, and so on.

This is a great idea! A few weeks ago, I started planning my five days of work outfits, and it makes a busy morning go better. I hang all five outfits on the bathroom door on Sunday night. I also keep a checklist of my grocery staples in Evernote, and I include the aisles in my local stores, such as "Kroger, aisle 8 (coffee/tea)" in bold, and under that line is a list (with check boxes) of items in that aisle that I buy regularly. I need to get better about actual meal planning, though. Thanks for the tips, Lorie!

I agree with what you are saying, I have a problem tho with the distraction of the extra written in speech bubble parts, I have fibromyalgia & M.E. (causing me brainfog) so find that I have to concentrate on one or the other & so miss one or the other & no energy to listen through twice😕 I think that I need help, things have overtaken me since I've been ill, (10 years now) & I know that it's not going away by ignoring it...

Many things sounded so very familiar, and at the same time I know that for me routines are the solution to avoid the decision overload; I just need to work on my discipline to get the mind meet the body/ soul in this. I will take your idea of a shopping list template to implement in my life - I think it is a good solution to reduce the repeated list of bananas, tomatoes etc. I write down every week ;-))) I have already implemented since two years now the "I only wear bluish clothes" policy; it has helped to reduce my closet, and the stress and time that goes into choosing what to buy and to wear as now everything goes with everything and esp. the packing for business and private trips. Beside a packing list, I have also found that having my toiletry (?) and kitchen stuff bag ready by filling up everything when coming home from a trip is easing the time and tension before a trip; in fact, I have 3 different bags for different lenghts of trips. THX for sharing this video and have a nice weekend.

My husband always teases me for being a creature of habit. I just really like routine and not wasting time on simple decisions like what to eat or what to wear. When it's warm I wear white jeans, white shoes and a top. When it's cold I wear jeans, boots and a sweater. I look nice but I haven't agonized over what to wear. I'll spice it up with jewelry. We tend to eat at the same restaurants so I usually have whichever is my favorite dish at each restaurant. No pouring over the menu for 30 minutes! and at home I have a repertoire of meals that the family likes. Take spaghetti Mondays, I changed it once and everyone went crazy!

This was one of your best videos. Nice to know that decisions have a limit too and we need to keep them for the bigger things. In high school I was always running late so I kept a makeup bag in my moms car so as she drove me I can do my make up . This ended up becoming into a toiletry bag . I am never home so if I have to a dinner meeting I can freshen up as I have deodorant and toothpaste Etc . If I am traveling I have 99% of things I need in it ready to go. I also keep a mini office kit in a make up bag with post its/ pens/ markers/ take / measuring tape / scissors / envelopes and blank cards ( for bdays or thank you notes ) this has saved me weekly . U just buy it once ( love the $1 store )or u get the freebies from companies. Both these kits stay in my trunk without taking up much space .

Lorie, do you know if I can donate school text books? I have very old ones and more recent ones which are published with a newer version so I cannot readily sell them. And does Goodwill still take old computers? Thank you! I so appreciate your videos!!! Could you please remind us how to begin....I am so overwhelmed with paper clutter because I don't know where to keep them all! Or, if there is a file, it's pretty filled and needs to be gone through for some shredding. Am I lazy or just exhausted before I start? Thank you!!!! De
@pollydolly97238 жыл бұрын
Hi Denise. There are charities throughout North America who accept donations of text books. How close they are to where you live I don't know. Might be worth a Google search "donating textbooks in (name of city). If nothing happens there, try emailing your closest College or University. They may have ideas for you. And BTW - paper is the WORST! It was the second hardest thing for me to declutter...photos were the hardest. Good luck!
@LorieMarrero8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Polly! Yes, Denise there are charities that will accept these donations. Some Goodwill's do take computers, you will need to check out your local Goodwill agency to see what they accept- they may take the textbooks as well.
