this is a very personal song for Rosé. she even cried when YG told her this will be her main track. it's about her losing Roseanne, her herself, to be Rosé. if you can notice in 5:30 she wrote Rosé in the mirror and was staring at herself but when it's Roseanne that was written, she's gone. there's a lot more meaning in this mv. she's a genius

The scene with piano, has very deep meaning. The one who was playing a piano is Roseanne, a trainee who is working hard on reaching her dream to get high, and the one who’s watching her is Rosé, who worked all her life just to get high on where is right now but she realized that in reality, everything she need was on the ground. She performed this song on Jimmy Fallon. You should check that out!

I think a lot of people like Gone more because on paper it seems more typically Rosé but if you really look at this video and the lyrics of On The Ground, I don’t think there is a more perfect song to be her solo debut. The message of reaching the top just as Blackpink has only to reflect and realize that everything that matters most is within herself and those around her is so quintessentially Rosé. She’s a humble person despite the fame she has and a lot of people will be able to relate to the message of needing to ground themselves and reflect on what’s important in their lives. I’m so proud of how involved Rosé was with her solo every step of the way.

This is Rosé’s journey from a simple girl in Australia to worldwide stardom in Korea. Notice that she is wearing a black and pink dress, representing Blackpink Rosé.
