LOL, welcome to the confusion that is Dalla Dalla. :-) I think it threw everyone for a loop when we first encountered it. Especially coming from more straightforward TWICE songs. JYP relied more heavily on outside composers and producers for ITZY's tracks rather than his own in-house production team. I think it's because he wanted a fresh sound that would be very modern and target Western tastes rather than Korean ones. His own production style tends to be more classic Korean pop-culture-friendly. This track was composed by the up-and-coming team GALACTIKA, who also later produced Wannabe for ITZY. It takes some getting used to, but ITZY songs kinda grow on you after 3-4 listens.

One thing I've kinda learned about debut songs is that they want to showcase what the members are good at for the prospective new fans. Because these girls have so many different sides, their song tries to hit on all of them and so it sounds complicated or even "messy" on first listen. But then you realize how it fits the girls so well and it's not messy it's just ITZY

The song has so many parts probably because the inspiration was from those teenage dance competitions where they just use 10 songs in one performance. This is a teen group with excellent dancers, they are like a dance troupe. This song literally boppy, upbeat, has cheering and shouty parts in it that stick in the head. I still think this is Itzy's best song but nothing in this song was done by accident. All smart and calculated by JYPE. Can't forget Ryujin and her killer look into the camera, my obvious bias in this group, though I really like all the girls making Itzy an easy group to be a fan of.

The reason the guide you watched only used Dalla Dalla clips/beats is because it was created soon after Itzy's debut, so it was literally the only song they could pull video clips from. It contained no information about them after their debut promotion period.

If you think this song is a mess, wait til you hear Icy lol Kpop in general combines many different sounds and tempos into one song and just has more musicality when compared to contemporary western pop which right now is going through a minimalist phase. This is because Korean pop was highly influenced by American Jazz during the Korean war which emphasizes improvisation.
