I've listened to Tool for so long that I got so used to "hearing" the polyrhythms and my brain not reacting in a dischorded way to them. In a way, taking them for granted. And then I watched JUST the first two minutes of this before being blown away once again as I had so many years ago when I first listened to Tool. The sheer skill and mastery of being able to compartmentalize every limb in a different time sig. and pattern (and being able to SEE it) reinvigorated that amazement I had for just how special and talented each one of those members are and especially Danny. And you my friend have that same gift and are on the top tier. Awesome and thank you!
@noControl5564 жыл бұрын
Yea tie it together so smoothly it doesn't stand out. Many other bands you feel that "off" beat (sorry i'm not literate in drum speak) where you thought the pattern would repeat, also sounds cool, but the way Tool plays it doesn't feel uncomfortable.

I mean... Damn! The first tool covers I watched you play you looked so afraid to make mistakes, probably because it took so many takes and so many time out of your days. You played too tight and struggling. Then you stated on Rosetta Stoned's cover that it is 11 minutes long of polyrhythms, as it was something to go painfully through. It sounded like sth difficult to get done, despite your improvement being evident in that video. Now, my man! It's a pleasure see the song flowing out of you so naturally. You're enjoying the challenge of the song with a grin in your face! It looks almost as natural as watching Danny himself play such a complex song so relaxed, as if it was nothing. It's amazing to listen to this work of art and watching you play. It must've taken some long hours to get to this point, so kudos to you. You played this one like a boss. Awesome. One of the first things that went through my mind as I listened to the album for the first times was how epic would be when you make your covers of it. You surely delivered.

This just shows how incredibly talented Danny is. All of the different time signatures on hands and feet. Blows my mind! With that said, John, you did perfect! You are immensely talented as well!

Finally !! You even included the synth part, what a legend Hey John, I'm dying to see a good drums cover from a prog metal song named "Vinushka" from Japanese band DIR EN GREY. I think you would love the drums on the Remastered version of it, would love to see you cover it ! I think it's very reminiscent of TOOL in a lot of ways Their latest release is also a 10min prog piece, absolutely gorgeous, named "The World of Mercy" Definitely check them out, you would make a long time dream come true with such a cover ! Man if you had a Patreon, I'd probably pay big bucks to make that happen

I'm a drummer of 30 years now. I love Tool since undertow. Your playing is sublime,the language you speak is beauty through your finesse and mastery of the instrument. Your CYMBALS are FANTASTIC,your kits timbre is excellent and natural. Subscribed immediately. I also play and build synths. Never stop doing what you do. You clarified parts on this song by demonstrating them as naturally and fluidly as the man himself. I'm recording later today and needed some drum inspiration. My son who I'm teaching drums will watch this later as this is his favorite song on the album. Thank you.

Hallelujah, I'm not religious by any means but I gladly throw in this one. Took you long enough to start recording again my friend. I have watched most of your other covers as well, time and time again and as usual you do deliver. I love the way your drumming makes these complex songs seem easy. If I may make a suggestion for you to drum to --> Anasthesize by Porcupine Tree. Fits right up your alley! Keep it up.

Danny Carey: I wonder if I can set up another pc just behind me so I can drum in 18/16 with my right elbow and then I can hold an extra stick in my mouth and do 7/4. Guys? I've just added a couple of new techniques, and perfected them in about 20 minutes, and wrote 6 more 20 min pcs. Let's put another album together?

what is a poly or a rythm
@joshruds27754 жыл бұрын
Ethan Hunt it’s when you add a brain to each arm and leg and play different time signatures with each limb but make them sound good and eventually line up... Basically.

Dang, brother? Did you go to jail? Termikewter. Getting healthy and beyond is such a good feeling. Glad to see you making so many strides in life and making it look easy; amazing drummer, archaeologist, getting swole for parole, etc. The drums sound super natural and clean. It amazes me how much natural room sound you get in your mixes. As a drummer, its what I strive for; that medium room sound in m mix. Transient but still some boom. Watching this today made my day better. I can't wait to share this with the world, brotatoe chip
