I was getting so frustrated with my skiving knife. The method you show worked really well. Thanks

I'm glad it worked out for you, they can be kinda tough to sharpen sometimes.

Nice job and you just thought me how to go about fixing mine. I dropped it and put a somewhat big dent in the middle of the blade, now when I say big it is about 1.5 to 2 mm big. So I think it may take a bit longer for me to get it all worked out. I admit I have considered trashing it and buying another but I am on disability and have a limited income, so I think I will just have to bite the bullet and give it a try.

I learned this method many moons ago and it never fails. Use plenty of the marker to keep your bevel straight and step down your grits on the sandpaper and you'll be golden. Don't rush, this method won't create enough heat in the steel to ruin the temper. I get the limited income, I get a partial disability from the VA and have been blessed with a boss that keeps me around part time doing dispatch since I can't drive full time.

I've got all kinds of fancy sharpening stuff but keep going back to the sandpaper and a good flat solid surface.

I’m a big fan of using sand paper also. I do have stones, but always seem to use sandpaper more! Nice job brother! Although, you’re not sporting a band-aid, so you must have done something wrong! 😂😂😂

I've got this method down to a science, band-aids are only needed every other time, lol. I just got lucky brother. As for stones, I have plenty, I even have a KME knife sharpening system. For some reason I seem to go back to basics for something like this.
