Tool trailer power supply! Shore power versus inverter and battery bank. Here I discuss the pros and cons of each set up. I show you my setup and tell you why I chose it.

Nice setup. I have an exterior male end receptacle and have been contemplating an inverter. I run a compound miter saw, table saw, belt sander, multiple chargers, 4 banks of LED lighting, air compressor, and have a generator for remote jobs. I like what you’ve done.

Thank you, I wondered how your trailer electrical was set up.

Nice set up bro. A little to expensive for me . I’ll stick to my extension cord to the prem for now. Maybe next year. Keep up the great work 👍🏻

I lean towards a small battery for lighting and power trailer jack. I mounted a 2500w inverter in my pick up truck, powerstroke and it costs me $2 an hour to idle, and just plug from the trucks inverter to the trailer if I need non shore power. But I can also run an extention cord to the trailer and get power from our shop or wherever the work is.

Like the set up. I have something very similar except I use 1 100 ah lithium iron phosphate battery which can be drained all the way down and a 2k pure sine wave inverter. All of it hooked up to solar power which is attached to the roof with 600lb fishing magnets. It will charge the battery fairly quickly

Finally bit the bullet and ordered the AIMS 3000w pure sine wave inverter/charger and 12v 200ah LiFePo4 battery for my trailer. Excited to get it all hooked up! The charger in the AIMS is apparently not good for the lithium battery, so I had to get a separate charger for that. While I was at it, got an electric tongue jack to add to the system since I disconnect my trailer every day. Battery heat sensor, inverter remote, etc etc. Can’t wait to get it all hooked up and running!

Do your batteries also charge from tow vehicle when connected? Also are your led lights powered directly from batteries?

Not electrical related... but I'm curious if the cold effects your caulking you store in the trailer?

Actually the solar is attached to the top with the magnets and also I have vhb tape on the other brackets.

Nice set-up, I'm thinking of a similar setup so what's the specs on the trailer? Also would you pay for the trailer?

Are your 12volt LED’s also powered from the inverter or do you have that coming from the tow vehicle (always being plugged in)?
