Those are pretty cool. I don't know if I've ever met anybody who wears leather earrings, though.

I was recently gifted leather and tools, I have cut out my earring shapes, do you have tips on smoothing the edges of the cut outs? I am a complete newbie but this looks like a fun hobby :) thank you for the inspiring video.

Use sand paper to smooth the edge. I bought a pack of throw away nail files. It's cheap and one is used for a while since its double sided. Then i use water and a slicker to smooth the edge with friction. I then rub a bit of beeswax on the slicked edge and use a canvas cloth to smooth it even more. With the wax the edge is more water resistant. The friction itself heats and melts the wax into the edge. There's other options. But the wax was free from a bee store. They sell by the pound and I just took a small chunk. Not even worth the time to charge me for it. They told me to take it.

Did I miss something? I’m confused. Being a newbie at this with just the basics my dad taught me years ago, I feel like I started on the 2nd part in a series. The design had already been traced or carved in. I’d like to see the first steps. Also, how do u have them attached to the masking tape holder u made? I love how u are showing how to add all the details on and how u are explaining the pressure needed for specific lines. Definitely something I needed detailed info on. I noticed someone else has struggled with making their teardrop cuts that smooth. Buying ur precut ones looks like the best idea.

What brand of tools you use?

I use Barry King tools. They aren't the cheapest tools, but I feel they are a good value. They leave great impressions right out of the box without having to rework them.
