Helpful hint: To keep from burning your fingers, place a flat refrigerator magnet under your thumbs. Another hint: bend the blade into a cylinder shape when sweeping across the stone: this not only spreads the load across the stone, it also, through the magic of geometry, orients the blade ninety degrees to the surface.
