I just came across this because i've had the exact same results as you using the Fluval breeder boxes and just found out about the German Breeding Rings. I have been hatching my Corydoras eggs in Tupperware containers, then changing water in them every day. I'll have to try the rings. At what age do you normally put the Corydoras fry in the Fluval breeder box?

Hello, thanks for the view! I usually move them over when the are outgrowing the ring. If it’s a small spawn, that could be a month to 6 weeks. A larger spawn would be moved over in about 2-3 weeks. The longer you can keep them in the ring the better as the smaller container allows them to find food easier helping to increase the number of fry who survive. I hope this helps and answers your question.

I love methylene blue. My cory catfish eggs are transferred to a 24 ounce plastic water cup with 2 dabs of methylene blue. A dab is not a drop. Get some methylene blue on the end of your dropper and just touch the surface once or twice. Looking for just beyond sky blue once mixed in. Add a small airstone and 4-5 days later every single egg hatches if fertile.

Is that hydra at the end of your video? Do you have any problems with the hydra killing any of the fry?
@mrbaquatics1120
@mrbaquatics1120 Жыл бұрын
I do have Hydra in tanks where I feed bbs. Usually, it's not a problem. I just remove them from glass, and the adults eat them. With tanks of young fry, I do try to limit the feeding of bbs. You are correct in guessing it could present an issue. I have not witnessed it personally, but it could happen. I'll be addressing hydra in a future topic. Thanks for the comment and the idea for a video!

Really good info. Thanks. How long do you keep your fry in the Feeder box? I have some about a week old. I have a shrimp tank that is cycled and waiting for them.

Hey Don! I usually keep them in breeder box for about 3-4 weeks as long as it’s not over crowded. Adding an Indian almond leaf into the box allows them to have some cover as well as helps grow bio film so they have a constant food source. Thanks for watching! Keep me posted on how they are coming along!

@@mrbaquatics1120 do cories eat bio film?
@mrbaquatics1120
@mrbaquatics1120 Жыл бұрын
@@pauledwards5607 yes Paul, when young they will eat it off of botanicals and even mosses. As they get older they will more likely be eating small organisms living on your filter and glass which feed off of the biofilm there.

Will Corydoras eat their own eggs?
@mrbaquatics1120
@mrbaquatics1120 Жыл бұрын
Cory will definitely eat eggs if the come accross them in the tank. Your best option if you want to try to raise the fry is pulling the eggs as soon as you see them!
