To all who see this video. As of writing this comment it's Sunday,May 27th 2018. Meaning this video is over seven years old. Now with that being said Lowe's sell's the Rockwell Bladerunner X2,and it retails $99.00 Now the difference between the one in the video,and the one in stores today is the following. A) No metal table it's plastic now. B) No wall mounted shelving bracket now you put it on a workbench,or wherever C) No speed dial control now it's "no load speed is 3,000spm." Other differences on the newer version is the guard arm is narrow enough now at the bottom so it will go through the kerf made by the blade; in other words you can cut wider pieces,and it also now comes with a fence as well as the miter. I'm not sure if the difference matter,but I thought people should at least be aware that they are different now the New version is "Rockwell Bladerunner X2" Model number RK7323 I got mine to cut handles for knives,and also knife blanks. And it does that just fine. In fact if anyone is thinking about getting one to aid them in knife making I'd say Yes do it. It cut (wood) up to 1-1/2 (Aluminum) up to 3/8 (Brass) also 3/8 ,and 1090/95 tool steel 1/8 maybe 3/16th if you go slow,and add some oil along your precut line,but most of my knives have 1/8 spine anyway unless it's a special order then I've always got my angle grinder. Sorry this turned into such a long read,but I hope someone finds this useful thanks. God Bless You All,and Have A Great Day!

I bought the same model a few years back, and I enjoy using it. I went into this knowing that it was an upside-down jigsaw, but it fit my needs for cutting silhouettes freehand from long, thin stock that would be a pain to work using a hand held jigsaw. I tossed the blades that came with it and went with a brand name that rhymes with "gosh." I've used it to do cross, rip, and curved cuts in wood; cut and trimmed PVC pipe; trimmed metal bolts; and sized some small ceramic tiles for a kitchen back splash project. I got the results I expected each and every time. It does have some cons: If you are doing curved or circular cuts you have to plan your route, because the arm mount WILL get in the way if you are not careful. Also, the mitre gauge that comes with it fits loose in the slots and tends to go off true when pressure is applied. As for the gloves/no gloves issue, I don't use gloves in most cases. However, I got a doozy of a burn blister on my right index finger when I was trying to trim a bolt using a metal cutting blade, so I will make an exception in that case. I have seen the "new" version of the X2 at my local box store, and just from its outer appearance I would not consider buying it. It looks flimsy, the arm mount has moved to the center/rear of the table, and the table itself is plastic. PS: I know I'm writing this about 3 years too late, but great review, TIA!

Bought mine at Lowes for $25.00 - only missing the blades. Came with the wall mount so no complaints here. Great tool to make wind chimes, model sailboats, do some plumbing repairs and other HOME small workshop stuff. For the price, it makes up for any issues.

this was a great review. unlike the world of youtube reviews these days, where they just unbox something and read the features right off the box.

Good demo! I have been using one of these hard and all I can say is that “It’s it’s own tool” and doesn’t need compared to anything else .(Mixed in with your other tools, it shines for it’s inherent strengths.) Yes, you can use it doing tasks it’s poor or marginally competent with, but why? Teamed up next to your router table, spindle sander and chop saw....knocks detail work down to size and kicks it out fast! (Have already purchased another used/but new one for when this one dies.)

Didn't see the date on this video and went out and bought one this morning. took it to a small job and its going back to the store first thing in the morning. Couldn't cut a straight line in 3/4" wood to save my life. Current saw is not the one ion this older video. Plastic top, not metal, no wall rack, everything possible scaled down to crap. I thought I might use it for a couple of weeks till my new table saw came in and then give it to my wife for crafts but I'm not that pissed at her.

I have one of the saws and really like it for what it is used for. My only minor complaint is the miter gauge. It has a tendency to move thereby not getting a straight cut. The blades that come with it are junk so I bought some Bosch blades for cutting various materials and use it to cut about anything now. I build boxes and clocks and the saw is ideal for cutting the small parts I use with any kind of wood. Using the right blades it will cut very small radius's as well as mild steel.

thanks for an informative review, I really enjoyed seeing this thing in action. knowing that you can cut heavy material as well as the light stuff is good to know. that circle cutter looks looks like a pretty handy thing to have too. this is now on my want list.

Not sure if you've noticed but there have been two new models of the BladeRunner since your video. The first one came from Rockwell where they replaced the metal table with a plastic one and removed the variable speed. The latest is that it is now being made and sold under the Worx brand. Not sure if you are up to it, but a review of the new version might attract some new viewers as Worx tends to promote their products well. Scot

@TheBigD That is usually true that gloves are a bad idea however I believe the gloves he is wearing are specifically designed for working with saws. The fibers tear loose and bind up the saw. They were first made for chainsaws. They actually protect your hands.

OK, so 2 things, I would NEVER hold a piece at both ends when I cut. You risk pinching the blade.also, its an 8 inch circle not a 4 inch. I don't have this tool, thinking of buying it. Is the Miter guide plastic or metal?

I purchased one of your RW9263 blade runners a few years back. I've thoroughly enjoyed and experienced good results with this tool. Would definitely recommend it to other hobbyist. I have one question for you. When cutting circles and some ,materials I've noticed a small amount of blade movement from side to side which causes some crooked cuts. When I checked I found blade guide rollers to not be contacting the blade on one side. By not contacting the blade it allowed the blade to drift ever so slightly. Is there anyway to remedy this issue? Thanks Any assistance will be appreciated.

Cool but that circle wasn't 4". Are you sure the circle guide doesn't ask for the radius? So in your case if you wanted a 4" circle, the guide should be set at 2"?

Thinking of buying to cut pinewood derby cars for cub scouts. Block is 1.75" wide and it appears max cut is listed as 1.5". It's very soft pine - would it be worth trying the Bladerunner, or would a band saw or scroll saw be a better purchase?
@Gibblestein
@Gibblestein 12 жыл бұрын
@pptgtool Thank your for the reply - your experience with the machine is of greater value than the Rockwell customer service who could only say "Capacity is 1.5 inches" ... meanwhile the pinewood derby block is 1.75"... thanks again.

Never wear gloves with power tools, you may learn the hard way. A lot higher risk of catching your glove on the blade and pulling your hand in.
