I applied this mix to the metal foundry set. The result is perfect. Thank you so much.

Hey guys. Do I have to use the mixer in SD3 or can I just bus out each separate kit piece in my DAW? Or am I able to use both? Would really love an answer to this question. I’m about to upgrade my iMac 27” and want to start using SD3 as I find it an amazing work of art. You guys have done a superb job. Thanks in advance for an answer. Cheers 👍

Hi, Thanks for the kind words! Yes, you can route the channels to AUX tracks in your DAW and use your own effects and channel processing plugins if you want.
@hollybrabra7 жыл бұрын
Ok. I'm updating. I never use the effects in 2.0, I just rely on all the plugs I already own. I'll have a hard time not using these though. Sounds great.
@IgorMuller6 жыл бұрын
Its true they actually sound decent. I just did a production i was too lazy to route SD3 properly and did all drum mixing inside the VSTi. It came out just fine. But you really should consider updating since 3.0 is miles away ahead of 2.0 in terms of sound. This thing really is amazing, it sound like a pretty well tracked live drums. Before you couldnt really make a radio grade song without a live drummer, now you can.

ANYONE - how do you bring up the audition pad? It's not in the manual and i hate that when i'm want to sample a sound i have to leave the mixer and go into drums. Then i have to leave the drums and go back to the mixer to maker a change, and so on. Very annoying. Does anyone know, please? Also, how would you change the instrument from say kick to snare? Thanks

Control + Option + click on a drum. Found in Section 3.4 about halfway down. www.toontrack.com/manual/superior-drummer-3/3/3-4-drums-tab-header-bar

Is it ok to get +3.9 on the out 1/2? shouldn't there be a more careful gain staging technique?
@Spoofaged4 жыл бұрын
You can tweak in your daw and add a limiter or tweak settings within sd3 to lower the kick if you're uncomfortable, but depending on your song, a little clipping on the kick can be tamed in the final mix with some mastering plugins

Is it possible to add third party plugins to the SD 3 inbuilt mixer?
@mcgarnacle216 жыл бұрын
No
@fedup34494 жыл бұрын
You probably know this by now but if you set SD3 to multi output and change the output destination of each instrument to that of a track in your DAW you can apply DAW plugins to each drum instrument. Hope that helps but i'm sure, as it's 2 years since you posted, that you kow this by now.

There is nothing new here other than the application to SD3. Give Steven Slate credit as he covered this technique 2 years ago "Drum Mixing Tutorial - How to Mix Drums and get HUGE Drum Sounds!"
@Daysofsamara7 жыл бұрын
137/5000 steven slate did not invent this technique ... If you want to give credit to the parenthood of this method, we must go back further
@IgorMuller6 жыл бұрын
are fcking you serious? One should give Steven Slate credit for a fcking parrallel compression on drums? May be he should be given credit for sliced bread and underwear too while we are at it?
