it is probable the same expression in the two languagues. i'm Brazilian too and it really means "I love you" in portuguese. But it can means the same thing in spanish because they are 'similar'. It's usual call the spanish and the portuguese of sisters languages. I don't know if you already realized. But both languages always had contact with each other. Portugal and Spanish. Brazil and the South América.
