Tooth Clutches

KEB's Tooth Clutches provide 3 times the torque in a given size compared to friction clutches. The clutches are electrically engaged and can be used in both wet and dry operation. Typical applications include medical machinery and test stands.

The shafts do not need to be stationary for engagement of this clutch, I am afraid that is wrong information

If you are thinking of a STANDARD friction clutch then yes, you are correct. However, TOOTH CLUTCHES require the two surfaces to engage at 0 rpm. When engaging, the peaks and valleys of the teeth on the clutch surface need to mate. Usually they are not lined up perfectly when stopped and need to align themselves when engaging. If the clutch were to engage while the shafts were rotating the teeth could get damaged.
