Thank you Pauline and Joey for this video. I'm so glad I can watch it on KZbin. And replay it step by step, the only difference is I have Lori holt's trim it rulers. Which I'm going to use to square up my quilt blocks. But if I didn't have them, this is an excellent video showing how to trim up squares. Looking forward to the next video. ❤️

I learned to quilt from a lovely teacher who absolutely instilled the cutting blade rule in all of us! I am amazed sometimes on KZbin videos to see people leaving them open. Aaaargh! I am so enjoying the series and I pulled out all the Qaygo tools I bought from you some years ago at the Canberra show and am ready to try a project again. Thank you x

I use an exercise weight to hold large square up rulers steady when trimming my blocks.

Thank You Pauline and Joey for this video. I appreciate you showing how to trim this block. With a larger square quilt ruler. The only thing I think that might improve this. Is if you were able to do a overhead view close up. That way the viewer could really see you lining it up, Before cutting. ❤️

HI Marion, thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, we only have one camera person operating 8 cameras when we film, and sometimes we spring things onto him during the film which he is unable to change camera angles on without walking into shot. :-) But, the more we do, the better we get,

Joey a automatic retractable rotary cutter. Would be good to use this is what I use. No more accidentally leaving my cutter open.

Hi Marion....yes, I've had to take many a gold stars away from Joey for leaving the blade exposed. But, I'm sure she'll earn them back. Thanks for watching. :-)

@@PQWQuilting Yes Pauline I agree with you, I'm sure Joey will earn back her stars. She's doing a very good job at constructing and learning this quilt. Can't wait to see the finished product. I've been watching each step along the way. and have learned a lot watching your videos. Thanks again hoping to start on my first quilt soon. Using a lot of your tools doing my quilt " your way".

I'm guilty of leaving the blade out, and paid the price big time..😂 and now I say out loudly " close the blade" hahaha. An Old Girl in KZN SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦

Hi Estella.... I think we're all guilty of that at some point..... which is why I try to make sure my students all know about how important it is very early on in the lessons. Glad you're enjoying our little show.

FYI: MY Omnigrid cutter automatically covers the blade when the pressure is released after cutting. Also, the accuquilt cutting system would work great with the QAYG if we had some patterns to use. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE ask your quilters and designers to make us some. Particularly, for us baby boomers that have developed arthritis, loss of agility and had to move into mother-in-law apartments, basements and assisted living facilities all have little space, QAYG is my salvation. Thank you!
