FAQ:
- What is DON?
"DON" (aka Dead of Night) is a top platformer level by TM including over 100 unique rooms, each having their own unique gameplay gimmicks. The deco is based on "vibes" or a feeling that each creator wants to portray in their rooms, and altogether the level is a journey through various themes and ideas.
- How long is it? How hard?
That's difficult to estimate, but even fast runs last over 30 minutes. It's a potential top 1 platformer level, but you'll have to see for yourself when it gets verified.
- Does it have fixed hitboxes?
There is a thin hitbox added only on the bottom of the spike, and this is to prevent corner jumps that cause the player to clip into a spike's sprite. This was done to prevent major skips.
- When will it be released?

It's okay to play the level casually when it drops! Personally, I will be beating every room individually, pretending like there is a persistent checkpoint. Obviously it wouldn't count for any list or the leaderboards, but it's worth it to enjoy the experience.

@@goldenvowel i wanna walk out in the morning dew is a needle iwbtg fangame, its extremely good with a lot of variety in both the visuals and gameplay department, its also quite long and features many gimmicks as well as some more basic but well designed needle, but ill warn you, the game is on a list like the gddp but for needle (granted this list predates the gddp by a year or so) and thats the last game in the diamond tier, it took me 20102 deaths and 31 hours and it was the last game i needed to beat all the games in the diamond rank, i would highly HIGHLY recommend the game though for anyone who has enough experience (or if you can take the challenge if you REALLY want to)

Except for the dated 420 joke one, all of this look absolutely incredible and unique. Granted, I don't know how much is edited or in-game footage, but if they're somewhat close to the video, I have very high hopes. This is probably not the song that it's going to be used, but it would be really cool. It gives each room this psychodelic feel that adds so much to the experience.

All of the deco you see is in-game footage, albeit with a grain filter and some camera movements added in post. Also, the song used is the main theme of the level, and each room has its own unique song

do want to bring up the amount of parts that use the same base IWBTG gp style, and wanted to ask if the gimmicks really makes the level any different to play, section to section? Comparing to strawberry jam, every gimmick that gets introduced radically changes the gameplay of the level, one example being the blind level in the beginner lobby having to format its gameplay *specifically* to have cues on where to jump, or various other levels where you’re carrying objects through tubes, playing puzzle levels where you align yourself frame perfectly to pass, as well as adding more to existing features. This level, from spectating, looks like very similar gameplay, over and over and over again, with the gimmicks doing little to nothing to actually make it varied or interesting. I suspect trying to beat the whole thing might not be very fun to do, even with gimmicks for each part in mind. Not to mention, it’s a fairly difficult level, so most folks aren’t going to play it, and it’s fairly long, so most of *those* folks aren’t going to play it either. If the intent is for people to go section by section, I’m assuming there’s some lobby connecting all of these parts together to switch between, otherwise it sounds like a slog to figure out where to put startpos’s, or to go to that point in the level via practice mode, depending on the full length. I’m curious to hear thoughts on these criticisms if you can spare the time

My thoughts would be, respectfully, to wait until the level is released to get a true feeling for the gameplay. We really enjoy how the gameplay came out, and we understand that it’s not for everyone. That’s fine by us. I should note, the point of the level has very little to do with the gameplay. It merely serves as a canvas for the true purpose: expression through art, emotions, nostalgia, and most importantly: vibes. That being said, it’s not to dismiss your feedback: The level has a mixture of rooms from “very gimmicky” to “very straightforward”. If every room was a gimmick, the level would be extremely inaccessible and annoying. If you’ve ever played Burnmind or Freezemind, you know exactly what I mean. Conversely, if every room was exactly the same it would be boring and unoriginal. We’re aware a lot of people are tired of robot platformers. That’s why this level utilizes every game mode that’s available in platformer. However, most of the level is still robot because in our opinion it plays the best out of any game mode right now. Additionally, every room was created from a blank template to ensure a consistent and familiar experience. All in all, your criticism is heard. But we have already considered most of these issues. We cannot make a perfect level, let alone one that everyone will find amazing. If you don’t like the gameplay, I hope the deco is still interesting and evokes some emotion from you, and there are thousands of other creators willing to do the things we were not in this level. This also won’t be the last platformer we make, so there’s always the future to look forward to! Thanks for commenting your thoughts :)

I will probably try out the level when it releases, but I’m still slightly concerned with the gameplay. I guess we’ll have to find out though
